Calling all Silver Streak Clipper owners

Hi Everyone, I am wondering how many of the silver streaks are out there I have been in touch with about half a dozen. I thought it would be cool to post em up mine is serial 1287 1950-51? based on the rectangle piece above the wheels the later ones had a diamond shape and a lot of galvanized metal used for belly pan, interior panels and some cabinets. the one looking at you is the 1950-51 serial number 2187 one in front of it is a 1952-3 serial number 2250 John Los Angeles, CA

I have templates for floor, windows, front section of the belly pans. John Los Angeles, CA

Hi John

I have a 1952 Silver Streak Clipper, serial number 2324. It's nice that you're organizing the group.

You have insight, learning, templates that could help all Clipper owners!

Thanks for your help with refurbing my Clipper. I'd recommend John's skills and wisdom to the forums - he knows these things like the back of his hand, literally.

Hey John,

I've got a 1952, serial number 2274. Bought it about five years ago from a fellow in Reno. He never got around to doing much work to it himself. It had been sitting in the same spot for 30 years when he found it. My friends towed it from Reno to Lake Arrowhead. I flew out for a few days to put in a new floor, and packed it with a couple of motorcycles before flying home. The same friends then towed it to Elkhart, Indiana to pick up a trailer that they had custom ordered, which is where I met up with them, and towed it back to Massachusetts.

I'm embarrassed to say that I haven't touched it since.

Charly

I just bought a 1951 Clipper serial number 2175 a few weeks ago. It is all original and in very good condition for a 63 year old trailer. I hope to gather some info and help as I restore it to it's former glory.

This was the day I towed it home. The wires were temporary as the brake light did not work.

There's a lot info on Silver Streaks on the Tin Can Tourist site if anyone's interested.

I find the site hard to navigate, but keep digging and eventually you'll find what you're after. Try to get to a link for Tom Patterson's Silver Streak website. There is also a list of manufacturers that will help you get to the 'Streaks.

There may also be a Silver Streak club based in Long Beach for you West Coast guys.

I am working on a 22' Clipper here in Portland, OR. Serial #2412. Had no title, was abandoned, so as I was born in 1952, I got to choose a year, so I went with a 1952. Doing a frame off restoration. Fairly beat upon, but oh so pretty. Nice shell, gutted, and way to many windows.
This will be my retirement mobile woodworking live work space when done. Currently installing Prodex insulation.

There was a plaque above the plaque that shows the serial number and model# but it was missing. Does anyone know what info would have been on that plaque?

If I had to guess I would say an aluminum tag from the dealer that sold it. I have seen two The serial number is stamped up front on the hitch right on the collar piece were the jack goes through. John Los Angeles, CA
