I am restoring my 1952 Silver Streak Clipper. I need to find some material for the plexi window frame. If I need to replace all, no worries. I found some commercial EPDM seal material, so I can ditch the plywood. It's the Frame and its curved and its aluminum. I had to remake curved ribs. Not fun.
Thanks

Hello. I am in the same boat----starting a '52 clipper restoration. I started searching today about the same window issue. Have you had any luck finding anything?

I am looking at maybe the trim that is used for the wheel cutout on the exterior skin. I am close to ordering some as I am just hanging the last bottom skin panels. Vintage Trailer Supply has this in their catalog.
If not, I found some EPDM, synthetic rubber, black edge moulding.
Nothing as a direct replacement yet.

That's not a bad idea. I've used that product (J-moulding; from VTS) on a previous trailer. It was fairly easy to use; required a propane torch to heat it and shape it but turned out pretty good. But I don't think it would hide the bolts going, through, the way the current moulding does...? My moulding is intact, I just don't like the idea of a drilled-and-bolted window. I sent a note to VTS and airstreamsupply to ask for recommendations. I was wondering whether there were alternatives...something like the Spartan systems...I dunno. Then I could have tempered glass panels made (hypothetically). I'll let you know what they say.
I plan on using the same design as used in general, just using black rubber for the exterior. I can use black or SS hardware and also I can get the trim wide enough to include the stiffener. As the same material is used at the wheel well skin opening I experiment with the later to show me the former. Either multiply marine ply or HDPM, as there is no sunlight the plastic is a possibility.
What are you doing for a frame?
Robert
