I just picked up my first travel trailer. It is a 1968 Avion that is in very nice condition. It is actually like a time warp. The interior is dated, but in almost perfect condition. Pictures don't do it justice.
I am wondering if the Avion trailer is related to the Airstream in any way? I have been told that they are/were sister companys with the Airstream being the Cadillac and Avion being the Chevy of the companies. Any info would be greatly appreciated.
Before we purchased our Argosy, we were also looking at an Avion. A gentleman by the name of Don Horn, here in Colorado, gave us some info about trailers in general (what to look for that might cause troubles), but he owned an Avion and has some wonderful pictures of it on a site:[

Maybe he can give you more specific info on your Avion. Worth a try?! Leigh
68 Suburban,
Avion is a fine product but, it was never made by A/S.
I list for you an Excellent site for your edification on the subject of Avion products http://my.execpc.com/~drg/avion.html
I think you'll find more on this one site than anywhere else.
ciao
Leigh
When you include a website's URL in the color bracket, be sure you give it space after and before the brackets so that the URL will work..OK?
68 Suburban, Nice catch on your recent Avion, I had looked at one and, came close...(They're nice unit!)
ciao
The Avion we looked at had a dark stain on the woodwork, he thought that might have been redone- and would be hard to remove (his had what he called a butternut finish, which he thought all Avions had originally) also, he talked about checking tires, repacking bearings, adjusting brakes and some things about inside appliances to check, (all things to check on any trailer) before we attempted to move it to its new home. As we were new to travel trailers in general, his info was very helpful. I e-mailed him and he responded pretty quickly, seems a really helpful individual. Good luck on your search. Leigh
That was my first attempt at that particular situation. Will brave it again soon! Thanks for the redo. My next fiasco will be when I try to post pictures. Yippee!!!! Leigh
COArgosy78, I guess I am pretty lucky. I got my trailer from the second owner. He has owned it for 5 years and has never moved it. I know tires and wheel bearing service is going to be needed. The interior is all original and in almost pristine condition. No leaks or stains.
Even thought it ins't a Airstream, I hope you guys don't mind if I hang around and pick your brains....
If it doesn't , I know you can just type all that info into your address line and hit "go" to get there. I'll keep playing with it to see if I can get the hang. Leigh
53FlyingCloud,
Interesting Avion site. Thanks for posting it. I've seen a few around in the last 10 years and, at first, thought they were an Airstream.

I can't figure out what is going wrong with the Don Horn site. I ended up going to Google and typing in Don Horn Avion. Got something on the first line about Don Horns Avion travel trailer. Pressed that and got his site. Maybe too much trouble to go thru that, but his site is nice to look at. Sorry. Leigh
