Had a day of work today, so I went to work on wet sandblasting the frame. Wow, did this work nice. I used a 16/50 Angular sand with the sandblaster attachment connected to a gas powered powerwasher. It took off any loose rust and most of the paint down to the original red primer and to the metal if I worked any area longer. I'm happy with the results and will wait for it to dry up then vacuum and blow the rest of the sand out of the belly. Then I'll be ready for paint.

I also got the screen door repaired. It had broken welds in a few spots. So I added some gussets for strength and rigidity.

Did a fair bit of research on both these produces before choosing one. Both have their pros and cons and everyone has their opinion. They both give you the same outcome, so I went with the DOM 16 because of the cost. I used one tin and got most of the frame done. I was going to spray it on but decided to use a bush because of the enclosed area and fumes. I gave the product a good mixing before use and used a quality 2&1/2" brush. It went on nice enough and was easy to apply. We'll see how well its adheres to the frame after a couple of days have gone by.

Evalu8r, questions about the pics of your interior. That big "cupboard" across from main door. Was it a homemade addition? Was it a washroom? What was that small door down by the floor? Was a fridge at other end, across from sink? It had a bed where most washrooms were! NON standard layout I think.

Yes, it was a full washroom. Home made. No, completely factory. The unit was untouched when I got it, 3 pc bath and had both gray and black water tanks. The door by the floor was access to the plumbing and shower "P" trap. Yes, the fridge is directly across from the sink.
As to the layout. That's what I mentioned earlier, I haven't seen this particular size or floor plan for the Travelux. Special order maybe??

Here is a photo update on my progress. Been busy between work, bikes and the trailer. So I haven't taken the time to post much. I refurbished the original cabinets and they turned out nice but it wasnt the look I was going for so I've start building new ones with a colour scheme of black & white cabinets, light gray cork floor with grey cushions with a bit of red accents.

Looking good. Really like the idea of the "capsule C" holes in the moulded cap facings. Will that be pared with doors of same shape? One of the things that I have just noticed with your trailer is you have two moulded inner caps. Unique of ones I have seen so far. The three holes on end of kitchen counter base, is that aesthetics or functional? Vents? Also, the picture called "new subfloor" above, is that a small segment of plywood at very back edge past the black line that is visible? If so, are you confident of the strength there for the junction of frame, c-channel, plywood and frame?

John, The rims are powder coated silver base then liquorice red with a satin clear coat. This will match the exterior trim very nicely, changing it from blue to red. All that work and I'm hiding most of the rim behind the smoothie moon caps!? I will be sourcing some wide white wall tire to finish the exterior scheme.

Thanks Lucky, The bedroom end cap oval openings and the upper cabinets will have frosted acrylic sliding doors with lights behind.

Yes, my trailer had the molded end cap at each end. I'm actually not putting the front one back in, I'll be installing a new 13 panel in aluminum. I have the aluminum all cut and ready to install, just hoping it'll get warmer so I can work on it. (I'll be selling the extra end cap).

The three holes in the kitchen cabinet are for storage of... wine, phone, keys or whatever you like. I put them in because of the room acquired from removing the oven. I am replacing the oven with a convection oven which uses up less space.

As for the sub floor; yes, it's a small strip at the rear, (around 12" if I remember correctly). I replaced the plywood, inexactly as it was originally built.

Lucky, The reason for the two end caps would be that my floor plan had the bathroom in the middle with the bedroom at the rear of the trailer. Most Travelux floor plans show the bathroom at the rear excluding the need for the second end cap.

I've been busy working on the lower cabinet, curb side. I decided to go with gloss black and make new doors for the lower cabinets for both sides. I put on two coats of primer, sanding each. Then Eight! coats of black, wet sanding between coats. Finished with a medium paste compound then a finishing polish. Fairly happy with the out come but I could get the paint smoother if I spent more time on sanding, save that for next winter.

Sorry I haven't posted so some time, so busy with work and two lists I had to have completed before we took the Tlux out.
The inside list wasn't too bad, just some little things I wanted tidy'd up. The interior isn't completed, I still have road side cabinet doors to make and the dinette area, small things like drawer drivers, wine bottle and glass holder. You know the important stuff. The out side list was exterior lights, battery box and wiring, brakes, bearings, two new roof vent with fans and the remainder of the paint had to be stripped out and all the trim replaced.

Well, I pulled it off and we took the Tlux north east from London to a friends property near the Ottawa area, Griffith on the Madawaska River for a week of boondocking. Everything went Great, the trailer pulls like a dream and we all had an awesome time.

Here's some update and progress photos.
