Reading the instructions for the refer, they stated the outside vent had to be below the bottom on the refer so any gas leak would go thru this vent. As you can see my lower vent is a good ten inches above where the fridge will be. So I drilled a 3" hole in the floor that vents out below the belly pan. Bug mesh on both ends.

Also added aluminum panels behind the fridge instead of wood that has a chance of getting wet.

Removed the axles today . they have a 2" drop. You can only order a straight axle or a four inch drop. I believe 4" will be to low so I'm going with a straight axle hoping that the trailer will not be too high?? New axles are cheaper and easier to get parts for rather than rebuilding the old ones.

If it sits too high, put lowering blocks between axle & leaf.

Thanks for the awesome and well documented project. Quick question, why did you put tyvek over the insulation? I haven't seen that before and when I think about a house, the tyvek is outside insulation. I honestly don't get vapor barrier stuff - so just trying to understand...

I had some tyvek left over from a previous project. I only put it in areas where there was wood panels. My thought process that it would help protect the wood and any additional sealing would help? No big scientific reason.

Plumbing and electrical complete. The amount of time spent in this small area is amazing, it really sucks up the hours. The original 12 volt wiring was one wire piggy back thru out the trailer. I must of installed a mile of new wiring? Pex plumbing is the only way to go! Just be sure to plan your crimps. the tool requires some room to use and the trailer has some very tight spaces.

Our SS trailers used a lot of clinch latches. I wanted chrome and was unable to find until now. VTS now stocks them. Stainless not chrome but close enough. I have 17 coming, I will let you know about the quality?

Those are good looking. I prefer those over how things are done on my '90.

Not a fun day!
The belly pan is not in terrible shape. Not great but with a few patches it will be acceptable. There was a white corrosion on the belly skin as the trailer sat in tall grass. I sanded the whole pan with 60 grit and will prime and paint when the patches are complete.

You are doing a true first class restoration. The cabinets, hardware and mechanicals all look beautiful. Can't wait to see the finished product.
