Model 24 Silver Streak

Pretty much done with polishing. Being that this aluminum is so old it has plenty of character marks and corrosion pits. I'm not looking for a perfect shine just a consistent shine. The key is to remove swirl marks left by the orbital buffer. My system is first cut 3M super heavy duty rubbing compound, second cut medium grit from vintage trailer supply number 4, final cut finish work step number 3 Blue Polish available from perfect polish the cyclo dual head random polisher is a must to remove the swirl marks.

Also added Eternbond 4" tape on all the roof seams and painted the roof white with a elastomeric roof paint

Next is to rebuild the trunk.

Vintage Style Drip Cap

Vintage Style Drip Caps are hard to find, at least ones that look vintage! VTS has them but they are painted white. They sell a stripper that is a lot of work with limited success. After trying two other types of strippers that did not work, I found a much easier way. At our local Swap meet there is a guy selling extra fine scotchbrite discs. I have used them on a lot of areas of the trailer that were very corroded. The good new about these is that the scratches they leave behind can be polished out. Takes about ten minutes to strip off the pant and a few minutes on the buffer and nice and shiny. Don't have another source for the pads. If anyone does please let me know. Hope this helps someone.

Awesome build ! I am tackling the gray tank on my Streamline . Do you recall the ebay seller ? Also how did you vent the tank and add the fittings for the shower / kitchen . Thanks.

Sorry I do not remember the name of the seller for the gray water tank. There are some pictures in the thread showing how to vent the tank. Its actually the sink drain as well. I simply cut a hole in the flooring before I placed the tank. Used abs cement with the correct fitting to enter on the top of the tank under the bed.
Hope that helps

Having trouble finding the tank in ABS as I think it is easier to work with as far as the fittings are concerned . Any more updates on your trailer ? You have done a fantastic renovation.

Thanks Argosy Heir, About the only thing completed lately is that I rebuilt the rear trunk. I will get some pictures posted.

Rebuilt the trunk using 5/8" plywood, and a new latch from VTS. Makes for a heavy door. with .032 aluminum on the outside and .040 on the inside. I used anodized aluminum for the inside as its sure to be abused getting things out of the trunk. Lots of screws. I can not find the weather stripping that was used to seal the door and mine in not in good shape. In its first rain test it leaked pretty good around the door I think? So I will have to come up with something to get a good seal?

I'm still trying to decide if I want to rebuild the trunk or put a bicycle rack on the rear.

I was only able to use the trailer twice last summer, but I can tell you that trunk space is very valuable!! I kind of did both as I welded a class III hitch into the rear bumper (Frame) for a bike rack or luggage?

First camping trip of the year. So rewarding using something you worked so hard to build.
Still have many small things to complete

Wow Ted, I'm so impressed with all your work. It's a beautiful trailer and it's cool to see it brought back to life. We just purchased a 58? Jet that's apparently never had an interior in it. Still researching things a bit but will be stealing lots of ideas from you. Ours looks bad but should clean up well, mostly a Ca life.

Thanks AndynMeganB

Neat looking trailer! They are a lot of work, but I would rather have mine than a brand new Airstream. Be sure to post your progress so we can watch the transformation. Also check out Silver streak on Facebook
