1947 Curtis Wright.. Couldn't help it!
While my renovations of my 1971 Globetrotter is half finished, I could not help myself to pass this opporunity. Parts will be next to impossible, but what a trailer it will be!

I got it on craigslist at the right place at the right time. Well in a nut shell Wally B and Curtis were brief partners for a few months in 1947 before they split and Wally made airstdreams and Curtis sold out to guys to build silver streaks. This is very similar to the AS clippers...I am sure others have more history than I know about it.
I dread stripping this paint off...

You may just be lucky to find that the paint has preserved the aluminum. Nice trailer to find at the right time and place.

Hi KatyBell,
Wow - what a cool trailer. There aren't many CWs out there. Does it have a name plate on the side with a model number? CW didn't make too many trailers and they surface so rarely.
Those seem to be unusual windows on the front. More photos please, let's see more!!

I am thinking and hoping the same thing about the paint put on pack in the 60s helping to preserve the aluminum.
While I don't have a pic of the black tag , it says curtis wright aircraft and trailers model 5 serial #83**
Melody and others I may be asking you a lot of questions since i no very little about restoring one of these...here are some more pics of the inside too.

I was able to research and find out that CWs did briefly offer the square pop out windows as an option. I have only found one other person (on airforums) who has these types of windows....I cant remember who that was though....

The Young Mans' trailer is a Silver Streak...he even says so..it's on the data plate. I am sure yours is a Curtis that someone has placed alum. sheet over the window openings and inserted later square windows. Your plate says Curtis. Look up Silver Streak...1952 - 1954 models I believe. Their windows are better but still square. The original "spooky" looking oval ones are terrible leakers. Look at the floor....whats left of it....under both front and rear windows....you will see.
