Thanks Melody for the info on the oval windows leaking...yeah, I saw that posting again and saw that he said silver streak. I had just googled for the photo..There is someone on the forums here where I read he had a CW with square windows...oh well doesn't matter now....finding info on this model is so difficult..hopefully these windows will leak less. the floor under the window is relatively good though i will put a new floor in anyway. I sure like the look of yours though with the ovals.

If you are dreading the paint stripping process, check out the options that professionals use for stripping paint off of aircraft. I know they use methods ranging from chemical strippers to blasting with baking soda so they don't harm the aluminum underneath.

The two biggest cautions when using paint stripper are:
PROTECT YOURSELF! Hurts when you get it on skin. Don't want to think about what it could do to eyes.
Get it all off! Most strippers neutralize with water. Make sure it is scrubbed out of every seam, niche and crevice on the aluminum. I've seen beautiful aircraft with nasty corrosion due to a poor job of cleaning after stripping.

Hi Katy,
That's a nice find! When you get around to stripping off the "mustard", try Removall 220. It is MUCH friendlier to work with than the usual paint strippers.
You will be pleasantly surprised at what that CW will look like when you're done. Also, it's hard to say for sure by looking at your photos, but I wouldn't be surprised to find those "alien eyes" lurking beneath the square windows and sheet metal patches.
Good luck,
Charly.

KatyBell,
Will you post your contact info, and serial number on the TinCan Tourist. It's hard to keep track of all the CW owners out there, but it would help to try and keep a network of the CW's left in the world!

Katy,
What is your serial number? 83??. I will post it in the Curtis Wright section of the Tincan Tourist trailer info page.

Just saw a CW that Uwe is re-building at Area 63 in Orange, CA.
One nice thing about those trailers is the 36" wide entry door.

I'm a little new to this posting thing, but here goes....
I am a proud owner of a Curtis Wright model 2 (!) in the process of a complete restoration. I have a guzillion pictures of it. It is serial number 5047 and that's the earliest I've seen on this model... I went to the Tin Can Tourist site, but I don't have the $20 to join right now so I can't post my info there. So if anyone wants to contact me, feel free! (I'm also on facebook)
