That sounds nifty - you're right, it'd be a shame to scrap it if somebody wants an example of a rare brand. Handles, knobs, appliances, windows, drip caps, clearance lights... if nothing else it'd be nice to let some of its parts live on (assuming it has an organ donor card).

1944? Built in the middle of WW II. I doubt it.

Here's a brochure link from the Atlas Mobile Home Museum -- 1944 Schult Luxury Liner. Interesting statement by the owner of that webpage: "In 1944 Schult advertised that it was possible for those who were essential war workers to receive financial aid from the government in purchasing one of Schult's new trailer homes. All you had to do is go down to your local WPB Field Office, fill out Form WPB-3538 and let the government do the rest! "

If not here at AIR, I'm sure someone at Tin Can Tourists would show some interest. Any idea about whether this is anything above wreck status? Yes, pictures could help grow some interest.

Doesn't seem all that unrealistic.

Here's a pic of a 1940 Schult -- a classic look! Other interior & exterior photos can be browsed in adjacent photos on this flickr page:

Charming indeed. One of those in original splendor would be grand! It's great to see all these photos.

That's a pretty neat find. The exterior looks pretty straight. It would be a shame to see it get scrapped after all these years!

I wonder what the small porthole was for? It is on the right side of the partition next to the kitchen sink and is barely visible on the first exterior picture.

Some museums may be interested in this because of the connection between the war and transportation and temporary housing. Given wartime shortages, the trailer may be very basic.

That is a cool peice. Brad, I like that sink, too. Hope somebody can save this one. Wonder if its aluminum? A couple of the pictures appear to show rust.

I've seen sinks like the bathroom one in commercial buildings. It may not be original and the faucet is very likely to be a replacement. I would expect the original to have had two separate spigots. The same goes for the kitchen faucet; it is hard to see, but looks like a single spigot unit. Single spigot faucets were high end items in the early 1940's.
