1935 Bowlus Roadchief on e-bay

What a great project this would be! Not to mention what a great investment it could turn out to be. Maybe Andy at Inland RV should be taking a look at it.

I wonder if the person who originally sold this to the fellow using Ebay, knew its real value? I have a feeling that this guy now selling it probably got this trailer for a steal.

Since it's Craig Dorsey (www.vintage-vacations.com) selling, I'm sure he knows the value of the Bowlus. I've noticed that he hasn't updated his site for a long time--and that he's not hosting a Vintage Vacation rally this year. Now he's selling this...

Anyone knows what's up with Crai? Is he getting out of the vintage trailer business? He was extremely helpful when we were searching for our current airstream a few years back...

This is Craig Dorsey, of Vintage-vacations.com. He knows exactly what he's got here, and though the starting price is very low... that reserve is gonna be pretty high if I'm guessing right.

Mary I'm thinking about the person who sold it to Craig. Yes I'd agree he does know. I'd bet you that the person who sold this to him (assuming he rescued it from the overgrown yard it was in) didn't know.

That's probably true!

Still, I wonder why Craig is selling it...

A Bowlus is a museum piece and hence not a highly practical travel trailer for most people. For example, it's expensive, with no real opportunity to put in the modern amenities people expect even from vintage trailers (bathroom, hot water, refrigerator, etc). So I am not surprised to see it for sale. It's a great item for a collector or someone who goes to vehicle shows, but not so great for someone who wants to go camping.

So, I take it that Vintage Thunder II won't be a Bowlus, huh?

Just thought it might be the kind of exotic fixer upper he'd prepare for the LA kinds who want something unlike anyone else's Airstream. Maybe not...

Moving up North.

I am sure Craig wont mind if I share with nice fellows around here his long term plans. He is selling most of the items that wont be able to make the
trek north. He is moving to Wa State.
Bigger location with less overhead.

Thanks for letting us know. That's good news, I was wondering about him! I kind of figured that his life had changed, but this is much better news. Nice to know he's not giving up fixing up old trailers.

Well, all of this got me checking out the other vintage trailers on ebay...Noticed that Craig also has a Spartanette up, too. Also of note--a L-O-N-G Spartan mansion in amazing original condition:

...and a real sweet labor of love, a meticulously restored 1947 Westcraft:

Lots of nice stuff for the discerning collector with aluminitus!

Hi Fabian,

Do you know where in Washington? This is certainly good news for us!

That's cool. It's a lot cheaper to live up here than in CA. Craig's a nice guy, I met him last year when he had his 68 Caravel at a rally we went to. He wanted to se mine to compare it to his, then we went around touring all the Caravels, telling stories, it was great fun. I wish him the best of luck in whatever path he takes!

Not sure.

I am not really sure whereabouts he is heading but he has located a place with a pond! He has little ones that he is raising. Do not blame him from heading away from the smog, high cost of living and the incredible traffic.
Wish I could join him.

Just noticed the Spartenette is located in Lake Stevens, WA. Maybe that's where Craig is relocating to.
