Old caravan needs help

Hi, I am a new member. I recently bought a property on the Sunshine coast of BC and there is an old airstream that was left on the property.
I am looking for information to determine if it's worth renovating...
there are several information plaques on the body: land yacht, globe trotter; Santa Fé Springs, Ca.Wally Byam's caravan with 394 in big red letters.
The exterior has some dings and there have been a few repairs done with sheet aluminum and pop rivets...
The interior still has the bathroom in the back but otherwise everything has been taken out.
I am looking for any info that readers can tell me about this caravan; year of manufacture, approx value as is and feasibility of bringing it back to service as a backyard camper for friends visiting in the summer...
Thank you

Photos? The VIN number off the badge next to the door will nail down the year etc. The big red numbers are for membership in the WBCCI. Three numbers nowadays designate a national officer.

Restoring Airstreams is a popular hobby and some very old, beat up units have been put back in commission.

But, it is an expensive and time consuming hobby. If you really want to own and use a restored Airstream, go for it. But if it is not an all consuming passion, might better just sell it.

The smaller models like the Globetrotter are especially sought after. I would guess yours would be worth $500 to $1000, even in poor condition.

Pictures would help, but it sounds like yours needs everything replaced except the shell, and that needs several panels replaced.

If you decide you don't want to commit to a restoration, you won't have any trouble finding a buyer. There are always people looking for Airstream projects.

Just for your info: The 1971 WBCCI caravan book list #394 as Thomas and Lillie Reed from Belton, Taxas
Think long and hard before you tackel the restoration job. It's not easy.

There are others a lot better at reading VINs than me but I get a
1962 19 footer with twin beds made in California. I would be interested to see if I'm right.

Welcome to our community. Congratulations on the bonus Airstream. Off the top the model is a Globe Trotter made in Santa Fe Springs, California. Not sure about the numbers. However I am sure some one out there will be able to help. As far as restoring the trailer goes, it just depends on you. How much time and money do you want to invest in the project. These are beautiful and sot after units. Completing a restoration is very fulfilling indeed. To sell it or restore and keep it? This is the place to start either way you go. Good luck to you!

Aha

Try this link, it will probably give you the info you need.

http://www.airstream.com/wp-content/...dsheet_60s.pdf

I have 192D252 19' Globetrotter, built in Ohio, double gaucho, #252 of that year.
Congrats, they are beautiful sturdy little rigs.

I think tackling the challenge of turning that into a guest room would be fun and doable. Turning it back into a road-worthy, self-contained traveler would be a much bigger endeavor!

Thanks to everyone who contributed, it does look like it's 1962 (year I was born)
can anyone explain how to read the VIN number; i looked at a chart where it shows the 19TS S1967 (my last 4 numbers are 2045...)
as far as photos, I see an image icon at top of dialogue box but it takes me to a window asking to post a URL -http...
