Airstream oddity - No windows

Here's another Airstream oddity. This is a 71 globetrotter built custom (1 of 3 built) for a moccasin factory in Cherokee, NC.

There would be some advantages to no windows like no seals to replace and in case of fire it already resembles a coffin cause you will not be getting out!
Just my thoughts

Weird, it's like looking at a face with no features on it.

That's really interesting. I wonder how the interior is laid out and how these units were used.

Maybe if it was used for promotional purposes, since no one is living in it they wouldn't need windows.

Is the interior empty?
Is it a moccasin factory?
Is it simply a cargo trailer?
I see an a/c unit.
Maybe it is a mobile moccasin store?

If anyone wanted to know that bad, I'm guessing someone at this place probably knows.

The Original Moccasin Shop

lol. actually the original factory went out of biz in 74, according to the man who owned it. Stefroberts wins the prize. this was used as a display / showroom.

Is the interior empty?
> Sort of. it has pegboard on the walls and a gaucho up front. the rest is empty.

Is it a moccasin factory?
> no. the factory bought 3 as showrooms.

Is it simply a cargo trailer?
> After the factory closed, one was given to the manager and one to the assistant manager. The owner was related to both of those men. He bought the one from the manager, turned it into a camper, then sold it. then he bought this one, which belonged to the assistant manager.

This was used as storage by assistant manager after the factory closed, then used by the owner as storage. it never left cherokee NC and was never used as a travel trailer.

> I see an a/c unit.
Yes, and it had a furnace and propane for furnace.

> Maybe it is a mobile moccasin store?
YES! it was.

> The Original Moccasin Shop
Sorry, despite the name, this is not the original moccasin shop.
Unrelated i believe.

My husband thought it would be the ultimate man cave.
I thought it would be good for someone very private - like henry fords airstream was.

I think that it is great! You can add any windows that you want and you have an open floor plan that you can build as you like! Better than the original with windows in it! You could just leave the shell without windows and make it anyway you like!

It's definitely a conversation piece. My feeling is that cutting windows into it would destroy its significance as a piece of history. On the other hand round metal tubes with no windows are the reason I made sure to avoid submarine duty in the Navy. In fact I felt so strongly about it that a major part of my job was to try and sink them.

While it is certainly an oddity, I don't think I'd worry too much about it's historical significance. Years ago I sold a vintage Bambi that ended up being turned into a recording studio for a hip T-Shirt company. Something like this would have been an even better choice (instead of gutting a Bambi). Or it could be a darkroom. Or a product showroom again. Or cut a big window into the side and make it a food cart. So many options!

Cat House

You could turn it into a mobile cat house.

Mobile cat house!?! I believe that those are only legal in a few states and I do believe that the bunny ranch in Nevada had an airstream but it had windows. Just saying
