I'll have to say it's a little bit of a tease to see this thread being posted on.
It's easily one of my favorite build threads and I eagerly await more... trailer stuff being done/talked about/invented.

You have fans you know.

No worries, I’m as usual, on the road in Boise doing forest fire plume studies. Hope my thread helps.

New Tow Vehicle

Got back from flying forest fire plumes out of Boise on the 31st. Still 1 more week of local (Colorado) flying.

On 9/1/18 I went out and bought a new to me TV, a 2017 Dodge Ram 1500 Big Horn with 19K miles. My wife and I will be taking it and the GT on our most likely only camping trip of the year on 17 Sept.

Leaving again on 2 Oct for another quick C-130 trip.

I plan on retiring in the spring, I'm tired of flying and never being home. I will still have to work for awhile but whatever it is it won't be on a airplane. I plan to never set foot on an airplane again for the remainder of my time on this planet. I want to see from the ground all the areas in the US that I have looked down on for so many years.

Great news Aerowood: The new Ram looks super. It will pull that Globetrotter anywhere you want to go, including over Independence Pass or the 550 from Ouray to Silverton. And even better, news of your plan to get out of the air. You have had a great career flying all over, so taking a long layover in Colorado makes sense.

Have a great trip on the 17th. Relax a bit and smell the pine.

David

Kip, congrats on your decision to ground yourself. In semi-retirement you can get another vintage AS and do another reno. It won’t be Estes Park in May 2019, it will be the Vintage Rally at Pismo. You should go, it’s well worth the trip. Good luck and thanks for the help in the past, Bubba

Hey, the 2020 International Rally will be in Colorado! Maybe you can actually make it and we can camp together in the Vintage section!

Bought a new toy yesterday.

Don't know how to rotate picture. Can't figure why I phone does this.

I've got a smaller cheaper version, it needed some serious tweaking to get everything lined up. We did roll out a dented endcap segment...and learned what NOT to do.

Well I did it Monday morning, I submitted my official signed copy RETIREMENT papers effective 14 June 2019. I will soon be able to restart my Globetrotter Full Monte.

No more air travel for me, and I can stay home (or Globe Trot ) during the spring summer or fall. No more equatorial tropics in the summer and the Arctic in the winter.
I'd like to say that I'm completely done with aviation, 44 years was enough for me, but who knows what the future will bring.

Congratulations!!

I was sure retiring from Boeing after 20+ years in IT would be the end of my involvement as well in late 2013.

So, now I’ve been dragged back to work full time from home in computer security for an Army Hospital. Sigh.

The main mistake was letting anyone know I got my CISSP certificate just to have something challenging to do. DW wanted me out from underfoot for a week, I guess.

At least I don’t have to deal with the SoCal nasty daily commute anymore. If you have high demand skills, you can’t really expect to retire and get away with it for long. Someone will find you.

Congratulations, I’m sure they’ll have a tough time filling your boots. In the near future when you hook up and travel, will Mrs Aerowood let you fill the back of your truck with tools? “Have Dent Roller Will Travel” would be a good start. Good luck and we’ll see you on the road.

Well, I don’t think I can get all the tools in the back of the truck, but I’ve been entertaining thoughts of people sending me panels, banana wraps etc. That is in the future though. I’ve got to finish mine first.

Congratulations! Enjoy your time off . When I retired in 12 I thought I would do a little metal work on the side . Was fun at first but then I didn’t have time to do what I wanted to do or keep up on my own crap . Can’t wait to run into you in the future . Hope to be camping in the Airstream this fall . Have fun . Blue

Congrats!!!

That’s a perfect day to make it happen! Flag Day. A day I remember and celebrate every year ... my birthday!!! After retirement you will begin to wonder how you even had time to work. We hope our paths cross in the future. CHEERS!
