Windows Live Photo Gallery

For photo management and simple editing, I'm really liking WLPG '11, available from Microsoft free at: Windows Live Photo Gallery 2011. I was looking at Adobe Elements 9, reading all of the gripes, when my wise#$% iPhoto-using son said, "Before you buy expensive photo editing software, upgrade the camera so you have good shots to start with. And upgrade the cameraman while you're at it." So far the WLPG has shown me good photo management and good, simple editing that is easily done and undone. Check it out, friends!

I've used ACDSee and Corel PhotoPaint for so long now, I don't think I have brain-room left to learn another photo manipulation software.

Don't know if you are aware yet, but WLPG will make beautiful panoramas. The software that came with our Olympus cameras would do that also, but only if you used the Olympus card. With WLPG you can use any digital camera. All you have to do is take the photos you intend to use starting at the left side of the object, and overlap each photo about 20%. Try to keep the top and bottom somewhat lined up. Highlight all of the photos you intend to use in that panorama and click on "Create", then "Panorama".

Fun stuff.
