My grandmother was the record keeper and story teller. One of my cousins recorded some interviews where she chronicled a lot of their adventures. My uncle was also a Keeper and between the two of them, they manned a lot of west coast light houses. They both moved around a lot. However my grandparents were at Umpqua from the time my dad was in the second grade until he graduated from Reedsport Union High school. My dad then began attending the University of Washington, and my grandfather transferred to Point No Point Lighthouse, WA to be closer to him. In 1939 when the Coast Guard took over for the US Lighthouse Service, my grandfather retired, and my Uncle became a Chief Petty Officer in the Coast Guard. To put this all in perspective, I was born in 1943.

We'll I guess there are a lot of sand dunes and rocky headland in Oregon.
Good efforts here anyway!

This particular sand dune is at Nehalem Bay SP. Near tillamook. Very neat area!
And sight of an Oregon state Airstream rally this last summer.

The period of resident Lighthouse keepers was an interesting one in coastal history, thanks Ken for sharing a bit of your families part in it.

I figured the "oil exploration road" clue might throw some off track.
The original road at Shark Valley was built during a search for oil, prior to the NP being established. Oil was discovered, but it was poor quality.
