Well, I don't get out (of my territory) much! I, too, thought of Scotts Bluff, but the vegetation is definitely Southwest.

Nice pictures you have, sir.

And all on this thread are.

Nice try, but it's not Cape Hatteras.

I think 1246 is the Bodie Island Lighthouse, on Bodie Island, NC.

Hatteras has diagonal stripes.

I guess, I better not pursue a career as a detective. That's a pretty big difference, now that you mention it.

On further research I have found out that the Bodie Island lighthouse is really the Cape Hatteras lighthouse in a new location. In the course of the move, the diagonal stripes were jarred so severely that they dropped on one side making them parallel.

Do you think that, in the move, the shadow of the lighthouse changed the coastline much? Seems to me that the new location is significantly inland, and about 45 miles to the north.

Well I think it obvious that the new horizontal stripes will cast a much different shadow the old diagonal ones did.

Okay this will be for the grand prize – a cyber bottle of Macallans 30 Year Old Single Malt.

And this will be my last posted image; I've been hogging this thread much too long.

To win, you must guess the location and the name of the large figure in this image. Youngpeck, this is too close to your home, so you're disqualified (stop by when we're camping this summer, and pick up the consolation prize) :-)

I think it's wolf cabin petroglyphs in arches national park, on the trail to Delicate Arch, but I don't know the name of the big guy.

No, it's not the Wolf Cabin pictographs, nor is it in Arches.

It's the Holy Ghost petroglyphs in Horseshoe Canyon. a detached part of Canyonlands NP.
Although I'm pretty sure the Desert Archaic Culture that did this probably did not call him this, I guessing the big guy must be the Holy Ghost.
