Who can name this famous place in the East? Bonus points if you can name the two hills at left and center in the photo.

Bingo! This pic was taken from the observation tower on the South side of the town of Gettysburg between Warfield and Seminary Ridges. Picketts Charge was just to the North.

You got it! Beautiful waterfall just of the Scenic Hwy 149, with an easy drive to it, with a parking lot, and put toilets.

Breaks over!
You can drive to this place but it's also adjacent to a famous hiking trail in the West. It was cold, rainy and windy there when I took these pics. On a nice day, it has wonderful views.

Where Is This?
1068 ... Looks like the Sisters Observatory (Dee Wright) SW of Sisters Oregon. The trail would be the Pacific Crest Trail.

It's in the United States, and it's the largest one in the world.

The world's largest ball of twine. Cawker City, Kansas. And the Griswolds missed it.

You've hit the nail on the head. SuEllyn even got to add some twine.

#1077: I'll take a guess that it's the Needles District in Canyonlands Nat'l Park.

Looks like it's just up the trail from the Elephant Hill trailhead. Attached here is a slightly different view from the same general area (although I must admit that so many of these formations look alike!).
