#818 is a river in the North, probably Canada or Alaska?

Good observation. I will agree it is above the 49th parallel which pretty much rules out Branson and the Mississippi. Even by Texas standards that's a whole lot of real estate. Does the whatchamacallit in the foreground help narrow it down a bit?

I believe the "whatchamacallit" is a sort of fish trap used by the Alaska natives to catch pink salmon which they smoke and use for dog food, so based on all of that, I'm going to guess the Yukon River?

Yes, it is a fish trap for catching salmon... It's not the Yukon, I may be incorrect about this but I believe all the riverboats presently serving the Yukon have side paddle wheels. This boat and it's siblings are sternwheelers.

OK, my last guess is going to be the Skeena River in BC, Canada.

It does appear that sternwheelers were used on the Skeena, but I'll narrow it down a bit. It's not in Canada.

OK, going back thru some of our pictures from our trip to Alaska in '10, I believe that to be the Chena River which flows thru Fairbanks and into the Tanana River, and the boat is named the "Discovery".

It's a tour of about 4 hours that starts on the Western edge of Fairbanks.

Should have recognized it sooner as we been on that tour.

That's on my "to visit" list.

Nope, she was not kidding. The house and grounds are full of descendants of Hemingway's original polydactal (5 toed) cats. There is even a cemetery on the grounds where they all are buried when they pass.

That's it. We took the same tour in '06. I think we were on the Discovery III and this was a shot of the Discovery II that came into the Chena village after we had finished the presentation. I thought it was a very well run.

Well Bruce, no one else seems interested, so go for it. Tell us where it is and it's name.

I do believe that is the St. Mary's River Lighthouse at Sault Ste. Marie Michigan.

Well, I should have included you from the beginning. You have the correct state. Wrong location and name.

Another clue, it's location is it's name.

#834. That sure looks like the Windsor Ruins in Mississippi, all that remains of a plantation manor after it burned to the ground in an accidental fire.
