You got it! HorseTail Falls it is. It and Bridal Veil Falls, I believe it is called is on the Richardson Highway, are on the South side of the pass going into Valdez. IMHO, some of the prettiest country in North America.

We missed that one, but I think I read about it, and will guess Laird Hot Springs?

You are correct. But you missed a gem. Post 404, "Liard" is a Provincial Park and an ideal stop on a long drive whether going north or south. Lots of overload parking if the campsites are full. There are three hot pools with one that will be just the right temp. for you. A great family stop. Located on #97 BC just below the Yukon border.

Can't remember the name of the little town, but it's a steam driven turntable on the Texas State Railroad in East Texas, close to Rusk.

OK, after a little more search, I find that this lighthouse in now called Grays Harbor Lighthouse. In my family it was always Westport lighthouse. My apologies for the wild goose chase.

Here is a interesting quote from the above link.

In 1898, the lighthouse stood just 400 feet from the high tide line, but massive amounts of accretion, due in large part to the jetty system put in place at the entrance to Grays Harbor, have since built up, and the lighthouse currently stands approximately 3,000 feet from the shore.

This is a another interesting attraction in Westport.

Yes, I had given up on the Greys Harbor one. I could not find one on the Pacific Coast to match the clue. Original Post 384.

I find in the link that the lens was built in France and was from Destruction Island.
The magnificent Destruction Island Lens, housed on the museum grounds, was built in France in 1888 by Henry Le Paute from the design by Augustine Fresnel. It was shipped by boat to Destruction Island, north of Westport on the Washington coast. The lens was installed in the lighthouse in 1891and operated until 1995 when it was removed by the Coast Guard and went on display at its present location.

My parents took me on a roadtrip every summer to see my aunts, uncles and cousins. I thought the tunnels were a great adventure. Once I slept through the tunnels and was beside myself. My uncle came up with a quick thinking solution. He said at night the take the cover off the tunnels so I did not miss anything. It worked. These tunnels are now abandoned. Where are they?

Thanks Dave. My grandfather was a Postman in Lake City, OR in 1902 making the grand sum of $106.92 per year. In December 1902 he applied for a position as a lighthouse keeper with the USLHS and was accepted. In the dead of winter he trekked on foot to Portland, OR and arrived on February 1st. On march 1st he became the Third Assistant Keeper at Destruction Island at the salary of $550/year. That was more than 5 times what he was making before and he did not have to pay for housing. My grandmother and my uncle, who was 4 years old at the time followed and joined him on the Island a couple months later. They were on Destruction Island for 3 years. The only visitors they received were the Lighthouse tender delivering supplies and the local Indians from the mainland. My grandmother said my grandfather had itchy feet because they moved often.

412 has to be Whitefish Point Lighthouse? I have never been there but may have seen the light from the Canadian side while traveling HWY 17 many times over the years. We lost a radar detector (and got a ticket) to the OPP one trip in 1994 almost directly across from that location. We went to the Soo OPP detachment to complain, (with no results) and then to the JP in the Soo, and had her tear the ticket up, as the radar detector was legal in the jurisdiction that the vehicle was registered. Long story, but you tend to remember the odd things in life.
