OK Dave. I'm going out on a limb for post 118. Old Town Quebec. Has to be. At least if it's in North America.

You can send my prize any time now.

Correct! Unfortunately Jim answered this question first and he is now enjoying 'the vacation of a lifetime'.

Where Is This?

A review of the rules:

"WHERE IS THIS?" will be a fun quiz about different photo shots from around North America. This will be a test to see if you absorb all that fantastic scenery while you are traveling.

Rules:

You may post a photo, (from your travels) and you should give some hint as to the location. (left, right, up, down, center or bullseye, Left of bullseye, etc.

It will be up to you to confirm a correct answer.

If the photo is not identified within 7 days you should then divulge the location for everyone to appreciate. (you may need to give more clues as each day passes)

A poster will win with the general location of the photo but actual location (highway number, etc) will get extra bragging rights.

It will be of greater interest to other readers if you can post pictures, or links, when you confirm the location to the winner.

The point of this thread is to promote traveling to all areas of North America and to experience the enjoyment and memories that are retained in the memory bank through the medium of photography.

Where Is This?

Here is another shot from a few years ago, but the picture would be exactly the same today. (except for the little lady )

The picture contains many hints that will assist you in the general location that you need to ID.

This was not an RV stay as we were going to pick up my DAD for an auto tour at the time.

Hey, not fair. Jim is Canadian. We from the states should get extra points for identifying PIX from Canada .

I am guessing that this photo was taken in Canmore, Alberta, next to the old highway, before Canmore had become a weekend retreat for Calgarians, who could no longer afford the lofty prices of a cabin in Banff. At first, Canmore was occupied by the weekend skiers, but now the properties are generally used in all seasons. Canmore is also home to many people who work in Banff but have been driven out by the excessive cost of living in Banff. It is a wonderful community for those who enjoy outdoor activities. Jim

Maybe this is stretching the rules a bit, but it was taken during another kind of "air stream" travel.

The hint should give it away....how green is my valley....so you'll have to identify four things:
1. The valley.
2. The islands in the distance at the top of the photo.
3. The type of aircraft.
4. What airport have we just taken off from?

FAN
The worst kind of Airstream travel, the most uncomfortable form of travel, the only kind of travel that seems to never end.

Fraser Valley,
Patos, Saturna, Mayne, Galiano, I think, (sure would like to see Haida Gwaii again, and Langara to)
Boeing 737 most likely
Abbotsford International

(Fraser Valley Towing in Abbotsford rescued me one Sunday night on the Trans Canada near Chilliwack. The one and only time that my 1993 Jeep let me down. (Just Sold the thing for $250, 495,000k) I can't remember the name of the Jeep dealer in Abbotsford, but he took all of 1 hour on Monday morning to replace the coil and have me and the trailer, a borrowed 25 ' Prowler, on my happy way to beautiful Porteau Cove. This was in 1995, two years before I bought my 97 Safari.

You again are the traveller who remembers everything Jim!

Canmore is getting bigger all the time and is busy year round.

So many of my pictures from south of the border have a sign or other landmark that would be just to easy for you Roger.
I'll see if I can dig up one just for you.

Good try Brian, but PEI does not have any mountains, not ever any hills, other than "potatoe hills". Keep watching though as I do have some PEI shots to come.

Polarlyse: I stopped in that small town on my way to Yellowstone, I think the population was 65 or so people, and is on the main street (almost the only street) across from the gas station.

Photo more straight on is mine, with trees, the other is yours from your post.

New one.
South of the 49th, and we are travelling west on a major tollway highway. Not too far west from 'the NUT house'.

Sorry about the quality of the photos. It was a dull day.

Dave,

Lock 8 on the Erie Canal. Northwest of Schenectady, NY an old stomping ground years ago.

Total length is 338 miles and going west bound you gain about 550 feet through the 34 locks of the system. Start north of Albany, NY and get 'dumped' out in the Niagra River downstream of Niagra Falls.

Did you get the 'nut' hint? Just to the east in the MOHAWK Valley.
