I don't think I was there with the CLIPPER Ken!

We do a lot of traveling north of the 36th so most of my shots will reflect that.

Here are four more traveling shots that many should remember after visiting one of the worlds top tourist areas of North America.

I'm not sure exactly where, but these shots are somewhere between the farm and Montana.

You need to narrow it down a bit to win the prize Ken.

I seriously don't think anyone who doesn't spend some time in the upper Arkansas River Valley will get this one. It's off the beaten track, but it is a tourist attraction if you're in the area.

More hints tomorrow. You could take an Airstream to the town, but probably wouldn't, because a nice RV Park (Chalk Creek Campground) is on the main Highway near where the road to the town takes off.

First time, June 1957, Saint Jean Baptiste Day. We sat on the Plains of Abraham with the ghosts of General Montcalm and General Wolf and many of their soldiers and watched as the citizens of Quebec celebrated with an impressive fireworks display. I have returned many times since then and enjoyed some of the many fine restaurants in Both Old and New Town. Jim

Wow, what a barren area on Google maps. Well, except for the green alien crop circles in the vicinity. That guy with the beard must be looking for those two dogs.

Anyway I found it, but don't know what to call it. (that situation reminds me of my days as an airplane navigator)

RightyO, Laguna del Perro
Here's the rest of the story. East of my home town of Estancia, NM. In the Estancia Valley in the center of NM here is an extensive system of salt lakes, which for the most part are dry. They intermittantly fill with shallow water. The lakes are at the low point in the valley. The valley some 10,000 years ago was covered with a lake 100 feet deep. Various cultures would mine salt until the 1920s / 30s including the Native Americans who lived in pueblos in the area. The Spanish colonialists and the New Mexicans. There are 3 pueblo ruins in the area open to the public collectively called Salinas National Monument

That is Tin Cup, Colorado, and I am guessing it is the road to St. Elmo.

You are a traveler Jim. (With a good memory )
The Old 'Quebec City' is the only walled city north of the Mexican border. A historical hotbed for those interested in the settlement of 'America'.

Practice your French before visiting and this will allow you to fully enjoy the unique hospitality offered in this beautiful area of the continent.

I'm going to give this one up as it is way off the beaten path. The little town is St Elmo, one of the best preserved "ghost towns" in Colorado. From St Elmo you can follow Forest Service roads to the trail head for the Alpine Tunnel Trail, a section of which is in the third picture. The middle picture is the collapsed east port of the Alpine Tunnel. The tunnel is the highest railroad tunnel ever constructed in North America. It is also the longest narrow gauge railroad tunnel ever constructed. It is an interesting hike for railroad buffs. The trail is the roadbed for part of the Denver South Park and Pacific Railroad.

Here is another interesting link for the Alpine Tunnel. This link describes how to reach the west portal of the tunnel. On the west side, they have restored some of the railroad buildings, etc. I have yet to make that trip.

The power generating plant at Niagara Falls and the burnt out ship that was to be a restaurant.
