#497 is not salt water, even though it looks like a nice harbour.

That's close enough. Its actually called Alexander's Castle.
I have not stayed in in. However years ago we rented on of the big officer's houses with another couple. That was a lot of fun.

Good guess but you are too far north. It is on a lake named the same as a Canadian National Park. Photos were taken from the highway while heading west.

Those photos made me think there was a tide. I guess that's not the case.

# 497 That was an impression that I thought would fool you. But the one picture shows the seasonal growth up thru the beach. The highway is named the same as a Pass that is the lowest crossing to the western most Province of the Dominion.

A guess would be Christina Lake, but that's a provincial park. So I'm thinking that's not it. Crows nest highway fits though.

No. Your are on the Crowsnest Pass Highway for Christina Lake which is a great resort lake.
Crowsnest is the second lowest elevation to the west @ 4455'.
For #497 You need to be on a more north route to the west.

Ok, it's Jasper Lake, Jasper National Park, Yellowhead Pass and Yellowhead Highway. I even found pictures that look right.

#407 You are right. Yellowhead is the lowest Highway pass @3711'.
The water is rather cold in JASPER LAKE on the ATHABASCA RIVER, but it is an area that is well used in the hot summers.
http://goo.gl/maps/otQEd
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Yellowhead_Highway
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Yellowhead_Pass
It is believed that the pass was named for Pierre Bostonais (nicknamed Tête Jaune, French for "yellow head", because of his blond hair), an Iroquois-Métis trapper employed as a guide by the Hudson's Bay Company. Bostonais led one of the first expeditions for the company to what is now the interior of B.C. through the pass in 1820.
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Crowsnest_Pass
The Crowsnest Pass is located in southeast British Columbia and southwest Alberta, and is the southernmost rail and highway route through the Canadian Rockies and the lowest-elevation mountain pass in Canada south of the Yellowhead Pass (1,130 m); the other major passes, which are higher, being Kicking Horse Pass (1,640 m), Howse Pass (1,530 m) and Vermilion Pass (1,680 m).

I hope you edited the last post. Otherwise I am going crazy. I was composing a post to tell you that you had the right lowest pass. Then I looked and you no longer said you didn't.
Did you like my addition to your signature line quote?

#511 Looks like Dry Falls State Park near Coulee City, WA. The largest (ancient) waterfall in the world was formed by the Missoula Floods during the last ice age.

As you know, You are correct. We used to camp at Sun Lakes State Park in our 15 foot trailer when I was a kid. I figured a Washingtonian would get it. I was born in Seattle, and lived in the area for 50 years until we moved here to see more sun. I sure miss the salt water though.
Ken
Here's few more pics of the area.

Speaking of falls, here's one that's so well known it should need no clues, other than the file name of the photo, of course. What's the name of the falls, and what flow of water is it on?

Here is my guess.
It's Lower Cascade Falls in Ouray CO. It is on Cascade Creek which flows into the Uncompahgre River in Ouray.

Sorry, that's not it. You should be able to pin point the falls based on some of my other pictures.
