Here's a couple shots of our 3.03 acres in Rochester, Mn. This is the first year of being from Minnesota that I'm actually dreading winter, but only because it means I can't work on my Airstream. I'm considering offering courtesy parking here. I have to run it past the wife first. She thought it was odd that I subscribed to "Airstream Life" before I even had a trailer. I thought it was odd that she didn't.
Anyhow, Rochester is home, of course to the Mayo Clinic and is located in the only county without an actual lake in a state with over 10,000. Go figure! Someday I'd like to move to LaCrosse, Wisconsin or thereabouts. The music scene here is a little repressed and I play bass in a blues band to pay for my trailer repairs. Anybody got a gig?
Women and rhythm section first...

We live in the high desert of western Colorado. That means we are at 6,837' and it's pretty dry here. It's not as cold as other parts of Colorado and we get less snow. The forest is piñon/juniper/cedar. Piñon predominates, but with the ips bark beetle attacking the piñon in recent years, we've lost a lot of that species, though not as many as in other parts of the West. Some of the trees have been estimated to be as much as 500 years old—they grow slowly and never get much more than 20' high. For someone from the East Coast, it seems like a pygmy forest. My wife comes from Colorado, so she's a little more used to this type of forest. We are at and above the upper end of the North Fork Valley and thus have magnificent views of Grand Mesa and the West Elk Mountains. Grand Mesa is probably 35 or more miles away and the West Elks, about 10 miles. It's really quiet here.
I used to have pictures of our log house, but the computer has lost them (not me). We have 37 acres, mostly forested. Or house is surrounded by forest and we can't see any other houses from the first floor. We are putting 10 acres on the market and will see if we can sell it ourselves.
The views of the mountains are what I see when I'm at the computer. I also see our Airstream and want to go somewhere with it every day.
No. 1: Mendicant Ridge, part of the West Elks
No. 2: Grand Mesa in the distance, hayfield in the foreground.
No. 3: West Elks in background, Town of Crawford in the midground. The house in the foreground is about a 1/4 mile away from our house.
No. 4: Forest

I liked this thread John started and wanted to add mine to the mix. This is my house. I have been working on it non stop since 1998. The frame portion you see here was moved onto the stone house to the rear in 1870. The stone house was built in 1790 when this was part of a plantation called The Timbers 6663 acres.
My house sit perpendicular to the road as was the tradition of the farm lane during colonial times. The road was called Hahns Lane until the nineteen sixties when the development that surrounds us was built. The Hahn family owned the house from 1842 until 1869. They covered the attic ceiling with Old German bible pages.
This is the view from our front porch.

This is the view from our kitchen door. We use it as the front door. My shop is the yellow building and the 66 I sold is sitting where Anna usually does.

This is the view from my shop. The addition closest to you was put on by me in 2007. I worked the entire spring summer and fall to get it completed all by myself. We had a major set back with having to replace two sills and many studs on the existing house when termites and carpenter ants were discovered.

this is our orchard. I planted it the spring of 1999. The trees were just 6" tall when they were planted. This year we had 5 different apple two pears and two plums produce more fruit than we and many of our neighbors could eat.
Hope you enjoyed a tour of my house. Sorry the photos were attached that way, I hit the submit button and ment to preview instead. Maybe a Mod can fix it... I don't know how

Panarama View of the Blue Mountains from my front porch in warmer times. Right now it is 26 degrees with a light dusting of snow and a wind is blowing to beat the band.

Not a photo but a video....
better than a photo ( I don't find one significative ), I propose you the video made from my window...
I live in the center of a french town called Dunkerque ( Dunkirk in english) in the north of France. Impossible to be more in the north because there is the sea and the frontier with Belgium.
So the video was made during the " famous" carnival each february and thousand and thousand people are there to do the fiesta in dancing ( and drinking... ) in the streets. What you see is the place and the city hall; I live there and no way to park my A/S in front of ...
see that:

We live in western Colorado around 7000 ft like Gene. The framed picture of our place was taken in June, after we hayed the fields. We had had the AS about month I think.. It is now parked next to the outside garage. the other pics look south towards the San Juan mountains and the other North to the Grand Mesa 20 minute drive.
Hey Gene, maybe you could see my house

Beautiful Central Illinois
Love the thread and all your picturesque homesteads. This is a pic of our old house( and my in-laws) this summer. We have been working on it(the inside) ever since we bought it two years ago. My wife has a disease that compels her(meaning me) to fix up old houses, like many of you have the disease to buy and fix up old airstreams. I have not had much time to work on the airstream since we have moved here. And she is now winterized, and put away until the spring. Bethany has a pop. of about 1300. Its a picture(not perfect) of the rural Midwest, surrounded by beautiful flat rich farmland.

Since we are close in altitude, my trees obstruct my view of Cedaredge plus about 40 or 45 miles of distance. I can see Grand Mesa above purman's ranch. I'm sure purman can see Fruitland Mesa where we live, but can't find our house without the Hubble telescope. If you think purman's spread means he's a gazillionaire, around here anyone with any sort of ranch loses money and thus has to send his wife out to work. I wish my wife would get a job.
