I'm not sure who to talk to. Looking at he Photo of the Month entries, it would be had to pick a winner. We have so many terrific shots each month. Maybe with there being a physical prize to receive, you could leave the decision up to popular vote.

Cool. That is nice of you. I have a suggestion. Why don't you make an assignment for a picture and require a new picture be taken for the contest entree? I may not play but I am always good for sticking my 2 cents in.

Im talking about a one time deal, I would be the judge. This would have nothing to do with the photo of the month. I know what It would be about. At the end of the year I would like to make a calender with the picks!!!! Matt

We have a monthly photo contest here. Jump in on Dec's Photo contest and ask if you can run and judge Jan's contest.

Some months there are prizes and other months not. You can run it pretty much anyway you want.

Dimmer,

Are you asking for photos so you can make a calendar that you can perhaps market?

If so, you may run into some licensing issues with Airstream Corporate. They are pretty particular with how their name & image is used when it comes to items being sold using their "trademark & dress" - don't ask me how I know!

Does that mean someone can't take a picture of my trailer and put it on a calendar? The reason I ask is because someone has approached me about that...

This would be a Forum calendar only, not sold on the open market, just for the forum with rally dates!!! Yes you can not use there name to sell it!!! But photos YOU take of your trailer are yours!!! I can see this was a bad Idea from the start!!! That's why I would be the judge to make sure no copy or Paton infringement where made!!!!

No way! You have rights to sell your own pictures. What happened to you Shari? I'd run them through the courts. Just because they say a thing is so doesn't make it so.

I have had three experiences...
1) My "Butt Poster" (all the pictures are mine) which I first sold on my own and now is only available through the AirstreamLife store under their license
2) Dealing with trying to get VAC Merchandise made when I was VAC President - we had to get everything approved and licensed through Airstream and are only able to use their vendors for merchandise (flags, t-shirts, patches, stickers, etc.) so they can control quality and get a portion of the cost. (exceptions are rally specific t-shirts, buttons & such - small runs)
3) Previously attempted AirForums merchandise (when I was an Admin) offered for sale here to Forum members

The only reason I mentioned it is to keep you from investing a bunch of money into having these made and then being "stuck with them" not knowing what you are up against!!!

I don't have any issues with you utilizing the forums for a contest to give-a-way your camera but please note that it can't be an official AIR Forums contest so we can stay out of things. Please don't break any trademarks and make sure the rules are clear with the members.

Although Airstream has branded their products, once these are sold, it would seem these would become private property. With that said, if you left "Airstream" and "Airforums" out of the calendar language (aside from describing a particular photo or a caption with someone's handle?) and each photographer was required to submit a signed property release with their photo, I'd think it's probably OK. The property release would be obtained from the trailer owner by the photographer. Depending on where the trailer was photographed, public domain could be argued, but a property release could do well for CYA. Check with the powers that be about releases and have fun with it- I think it sounds like a cool idea!

As I understand it - to be a legal release, you have to give consideration - when I signed my release, they gave me a dollar...

Welcome back, Dimmer - we've missed you.

Last I heard, if I remember correctly, you had a wreck or something. Is everything all right?
