Sweetpea 3.0
Here are some interior images of Sweetpea III, our 1961 Bambi.
She's all done up with mid century vintage curtain fabric, a vintage George Nelson for Howard Miller saucer lamp, black shearling pillows and some of our collection of spun aluminum canisters and black Grainware serving pieces. (We keep our picnic supplies-paper plates and napkins in the cake taker.) We apologize for the lack of perspective-not much room in the Bambi for wide angle images.
When we get to our destination, we pull out our vintage Bertoia chairs and low slung boomerang table. We'll have to capture more images and post them soon.
Until then, happy and safe journeys.

I collect the spun aluminum-call it poor man's silver. When I started an AS was the last thing in my mind-didn't realize it was symptoms of aluminumitis! Your Bambi is lovely!

Thanks Dannie!
Our favorite piece of spun aluminum, aside from the cake taker, is the little container marked, "GREASE". We're not quite sure what to put in it-definitely not bacon grease, at least not in the summer.
Happy and safe journeys,

Sweet!
Very nice ....
I have a question for you...What did you make the table out of? We are trying to figure out the best material to use for a table/bed for our dinette.
We need something strong enough to hold a couple of adults.

Vermont Open House
Bob has continued to work on interior modifications -- very, very soon our 22' CCD should be just about perfect, for us. Come on in for a spell, we have space for visitors.
Hoping to see you down the road,

Supersized indeed! I love the colors blue and white with the golden oak is a particular preference of mine. Your motor home is stunning. It looks new, better than new, I should say.

What I feel has come and gone before
No need to talk it out
We know what it's all about
Hangin' around
Nothing to do but frown
Snowy Days and Winter always gets me down.
I thought I would bump this thread to look at cheery interiors and help me continue in my dreaming of streaming...I can see a few grass patches through the snow...Maybe you will take and share in this Open House with me today.
If I see one more out of the showroom interior for the brand new models I will go bonkers. Save me and show me your personailized Airstream. I want to see what they can become and not how they look at birth before they're dressed.
People and animals depicted so much the better!! Let's see your Better Homes Edition.

ok, you asked for it!!!
well, this isn't how it currently is, but we bought it in this state and no drugs were involved, I promise! You said your didn't want to see any new AS and this sure ain't one. This is the Before Before picture... Not sure but maybe the previous owners were stuck in the disco stage.

Is that ... a mirrored surface over the gacho bed? And plenty of reflective wall design. Music loud and women warm. If those walls could talk.
Thanks for posting. Yes a smile is on my face and I can hardly wait to see the new interior soon!! I am sure it will become quite nice in your loving care. But just what were we thinking back then???? Those of us that were stayin alive and kickin back when...

This is a great thread. I can't believe I've missed it all these years.
My trailer doesn't have the character of some of the old ones, but I like it.
Photo 1: The day I brought it home.
Photo 2: Full House, guests watching TV on a rainy evening.
Photo 3: Bed hog.
Photo 4: The Godfather of Airstream, PeeWee as my guest.

Good shots Steve. Lots of story told in those pictures.
Your dog is a cutie. Those eyes, aahhh. At first I thought he took the corner too fast and broke all the dishes then I figured out it was the trailer that moved 'round the corner. Oh oh is right. That was not such a good surprise when you opened the door.
Did you make your own slipcover for the couch? That would be handy to know how to do.
You have lots of room for visitors and you met Pee Wee on the caravan? How cool is that? Watching movies is no problem with so much seating in your Airstream. Good floorplan.
Don't you love those segments on the older Airstreams? Me too.
CCD colors and the Airstream brochures always seem to "pop." There is something about a big orange flower too, and basically any orange accent that goes so well in the silver interiors! It reflects so nicely. The hallogen lighting in your SE is gorgeous.
I love looking at trailers! This thread helps me see lots of visuals and is easy on the pocketbook and fits right into any schedule.

you got it right!
Yes!!! yellow and blue mirrored glass (and fur, too) was all over every ceiling. Fur was on the walls, too. Found some "love paraphenelia-stuff" when we were demo-ing, too ! Laughed until we cried!! And the kicker is that everything and I mean EVERYTHING was stuck on the walls and ceilings with liquid nails!!!
I loved you picture of Travolta.... definately fits the theme they had going! I sure hope some folks will take you up on your offer and post some really NICE pictures -- could work as an inspiration for us.

Here are a few of our '67 Globetrotter- I'm still adding some personal touches to enhance her silver/grey/yellow color scheme. Still want to paint the oven door yellow also! Also planning on weaving some custom rugs for her.

I actually just finished reupholstering my couch seat and back. It was the first time I had touched a sewing machine since home economics class. I'm going to see how well it holds up to abuse by the dog. If it works out well I'll probably reupholster everything in colors more to my liking. I posted a lot of step by step photos in another thread http://www.airforums.com/forums/f39/...ect-61003.html

I bought my Airstream used and never cared for the big blue stripes. I brought in the orange shag rug, orange comforter and orange curtains to take your eye away from the blue and make it look a little more bright and interesting. It's a great reflective color in the aluminum.

What a great thread! I love seeing all the variations that people come up with. We bought our Argosy without any curtains or usable cushions (the PO had the cushions; they had been sitting outside in the weather while he lived in the Argosy building his new house). We brought the icky cushions home so we could use them for templates, and got rid of them as soon as possible! We had no idea what we were doing at the time, so our homemade cushions, upholstery and curtains have "character"! They work just fine for us, although we are looking at fabric samples with the idea of making a second interior to swap out when we get bored.
P.S. Please excuse the non-matching blanket on the bed; the maroon one was in the wash!
