October 2009 Photo Contest

After much deliberation (i.e. back porch argument) about going with a traditional theme or something more creative/expressive...

Without further ado, here's October's contest:

- Streams of Sound -

We know there are many among us who enjoy playing the jug, washboard, their iPod, with pyrotechnics, scrabble, and as many other instruments as can be named. There are also many who enjoy streamin' to music festivals, back country jams, and the like.

So - the idea this month is to capture not only the visual, but also the aural experience of you, yours, and your Airstream(s)!

Don't think that only music counts either - we've spent plenty o' night enjoying the nearby rush of a mountain stream (or what we would tell ourselves was a mountain stream while camped along an interstate ).

Use your imagination and experiment with capturing sound in pictures!

And just because it's October, we'll toss in bonus points for capturing the sounds of the season... you know; Oktoberfest-ivities, apple bobbing, ghoulish noises, and the rest of the fun that this month brings.

Best to all & let's see the sound!

One of my favorites.

On the road with the Bullet in tow.

A relatively quiet, subtle ride, interlaced with a background chorus of harmonic melodies. High performance V rated tires harmonizing with the melodic purr of the infamous Nissan VQ 3.5 V6 engine, at 2,600 RPM.

Awe.........life is good!

These images are from the post dinner Jam session at the Inaugural Branson, MO rally held every year in October.

Artstream on Bongos and Collin watching intently

Collin shaking it with the rhythm section. I am barely visible in the background with my guitar.

Here is my entry:

Baby & Bluegrass in Airstream

Content in the airstream after a day spent hiking in Algonquin Park.

No need to watch more than 5 seconds, my video goes on forever! I didn't know how to shorten it.

Or the sound of the moon, beating against the roof, trying to outshine the stars (boondocking on the banks of the Colorado River near Moab, UT - last week). OK, I'm done.

Boondocking

(1) The sound of nothing but champagne while boondocking.
(2) The sound of shrimp cocktail and more champagne while boondocking with friends.
(3) The sound of Eggs Benedict for breakfast while boondocking.
See boondocking is no problem.

Musical slideshow

Enjoy the scenic photography by Rich Luhr and family while tapping your feet to the great old campfire song of Bobby McGee by Janis Joplin:
