November 2014 Photo Contest

To my surprise i won the October Photo Contest and now i have the privilege to choose the November Theme.
I discussed it with my wife and we think to keep it traditional and Season appropriate.
So the Theme will be “Airstream ThanksGiving” .
I imagine either a Thanksgiving Dinner prepared in the Airstream Galley; the table set for the upcoming Meal; decorations on the inside or outside.. Or maybe show your Airstream in front of a decorated building / house. Lets see what you guys come up with

Submariner congratulations on your win. Like the theme for this month and there should be lots of great entries all the end of the end of the month. I'm going to challenge the 4 Corners Unit to try and win this one. They do a Thanksgiving Rally with full dinner, they have great photographers and lots of fun.

I have posted this picture before, but still one of my favorite memories from some years back... celebrating Thanksgiving 250 feet below sea level in Death Valley with the family.

We fried a turkey, had mashed potatoes, gravy and all the fixings. Just no water or electricity. No problem.

We like our birds really fresh .......

The live Turkeys were visitors during a fall visit to Custer State Park a few years ago.

The Turkey being BBQ'ued is just one of a now annual family tradition of camping over our Canadian Thanksgiving Weekend (in October) - and yes - it is a fresh bird purchased from one of the local farms. The campsite is in Kakabeka Falls Provincial Park in Northweatern Ontario.

If you haven't tried a BBQ'ued bird you are missing something - every member of our family will vouch that it is the absolute BEST way to cook a bird - it is a bit of a dynamic process and becomes quite a family effort checking the temperature - adjusting - checking some more - adjusting some more - then finally a group celebration .....

Thanks,

Jay

Come on Boys and Girls - get those Thanksgiving pictures downloaded.

Here is a secret picture of our patented BBQ setup - note the paraphenalia - digital meat thermometer, manual meat thermometer, oven thermometer.

Designated family job specs include: Heat Manager, Bird Monitor, Kitchen Crew Boss, Table Technician, Slicer and Dicer, Gravy Queen, Masher, and, of course, Wine Steward and Bartender (separate positions). Clean-up detail is shared (but supervised by Mother).
