First drive

Just picked up the 34' from an elderly man in Rochester MN. He had special ordered it and used it 1 time. Camped with family near Mpls to celebrate.

While it must be really hard for the Contest Organizer each time to select the winning photos - could you imagine how hard it is for the entrants to choose....(ps congrats on your October win!!)

So my short list is not very short I am afraid.

I thought of your topic 62OV with all its potential. What does being out on the road with our Airstream mean to me.... here are just a few meanings with their photos to match.......

How waiting for a draw bridge to set the road free, on our big trip out east this summer and thinking how lucky we really are to be able to travel with our Girls...if she could talk..."whatcha doing out there Mom aren't you supposed to be drivin' and Taz in the back barking out "we will never get there at this rate"

And lastly the feeling of getting out on the road solo with the support of your Husband, following not too far behind and checking out your AS 25 years later through not rose coloured glasses but bug splattered windshield...

road trips

I always try to get some pictures of SNU rally arrivals or departures. Here are some examples.

The first is Rick leaving a rally at Obsidian Dome July 2006

The second is Roman and Melissa arriving at a rally at Pyramid Lake March 2008

The third is a picture of Jerry and Dyann and Richard and Doris arriving at our Hope Valley rally site in October 2008

The fourth - a historic perspective - the line for gas on the 1957 WBCCI Mexcian Caravan. That's my Grandmother Jo Harrison standing by their rig at the front of the line.

Vaughn,

Trailer number 50 was Louis and Mildred Mousley. He was the wagon boss on three of the Caravans, I went on. Europe 1956, Eastern Canada 1957 and Africa 1959-1960. Lou was great as a Wagon Boss.

Another pic taken at the Sudan stop.

Wow these are all fabulous photos. I have been enjoying everyone and this job of judging is going to be very hard.

Pee Wee, thanks for being on the VAP last night. I am listening to right now. I just want to ask which ones of the photos you are submitting are actually yours. The caravan photos are very hard competition for most out there. I would hate to think you are submitting photos taken by a professional photographer. Your personal ones are fair game in my eyes.

All seven of the pictures are mine. The two black and whites were taken on the Nubian Desert, the two color African pictues were taken on the desert between Eritrea and Khartoum on the Sudanese desert, the three color pictues I took in Bozeman at the International rally. There were taken in the VAC parking area. Airstream was gracious and furnished a 2008, 25foot Safari for Sue and I.

Have a great contest, best

Pee Wee
