If we are worried about offending children on this site then Mr. Leary should be more aware of his language. In posts for just March of this year (6 days) he has used the words "hell," "crappy," and "smart ass." I would rather my kids look at the pictures of an attractive woman in an Airstream than be exposed to crude language. Maybe it is just 'soft' crude language but still crude, right?
We can only take so many pictures of dogs in Airstreams, floor rot, and gutted trailers. I like the pictures and find them not the least bit offensive--refreshing actually.

I too am offended my Mike Leary's ranting. I had to look up those pics to see what the fuss was about. What in those pics looks like soft porn? Kinda reminds me of those pictures posted in Target and other stores of the models wearing the clothing that is sold there. Nothing soft porn in there unless it is in someone's mind, or someone imagining what is under those clothes. In that case, the fault does not lie in the pictures. If someone sees soft porn there, what do they see when they go to a museum with paintings of nudes>

Sex sells and we are exposed to images that depict attractive young people in alluring or provocative dress or poses daily in today's media.

People's comfort levels and opinions will vary. The definitions themselves as well as boundaries are impossible to set firmly.

I hope we don't have to criticize people for their opinions when we don't agree with their opinions.

Going back to the original post. I saw a number of photos that may be some of the pictures you are referring to Mike. I actually thought they were quite good and I liked them, even as an older woman but from a photographer's point of view. I thought it was creative, attractive and interesting.

Personally I would take the opportunity with my family to discuss with them why I didn't care for that photo if I were raising my children now. You won't be able to shield them from images such as those and much more explicit images that they will be exposed to. I think it would be a fine teaching point leading into respect for oneself and others and being careful to not be slowly drawn into compromising situations by an erroision of boundaries and therein restate your values and guide your children as you would direct them and teach them how to walk through temptations and what is important.

This is the first time I looked at this thread. I've got the point from both sides of the fence. Personally I don't see any use in taking this argument any further. I find using the forums in this way more disagreeable than the merits or lack thereof and this is the last time for me I will read this thread.
