Can someone link to the old airstream ad with the bikini clad woman inside the airstream in the cold environmental chamber? I can't seem to find it. Maybe that will give Mike some perspective.

I am someone that is offended by your ranting. That fact that you keep having to resort to profanity does not speak well of you.
It is just that I thought that you were gone when you said Bye-Bye.

I too am offended my Mike Leary's ranting. I had to look up those pics to see what the fuss was about. What in those pics looks like soft porn? Kinda reminds me of those pictures posted in Target and other stores of the models wearing the clothing that is sold there. Nothing soft porn in there unless it is in someone's mind, or someone imagining what is under those clothes. In that case, the fault does not lie in the pictures. If someone sees soft porn there, what do they see when they go to a museum with paintings of nudes>

Something in Organ Pipe needs tuning...

Just when we thought
this roster was becoming sane
another troubled adult takes aim.

Should have tasted those words
before unleashing what’s between your ears.
What could have stayed unsaid brings me to tears.

Seems to be a lot of that going around
Is there not enough time in a week
to taste your words before you speak?

em

PS said I would never rhyme on the forum again but this was just too much.
...and did you see that smoking woman? (with the cigarette)

Sex sells and we are exposed to images that depict attractive young people in alluring or provocative dress or poses daily in today's media.

People's comfort levels and opinions will vary. The definitions themselves as well as boundaries are impossible to set firmly.

I hope we don't have to criticize people for their opinions when we don't agree with their opinions.

Going back to the original post. I saw a number of photos that may be some of the pictures you are referring to Mike. I actually thought they were quite good and I liked them, even as an older woman but from a photographer's point of view. I thought it was creative, attractive and interesting.

Personally I would take the opportunity with my family to discuss with them why I didn't care for that photo if I were raising my children now. You won't be able to shield them from images such as those and much more explicit images that they will be exposed to. I think it would be a fine teaching point leading into respect for oneself and others and being careful to not be slowly drawn into compromising situations by an erroision of boundaries and therein restate your values and guide your children as you would direct them and teach them how to walk through temptations and what is important.

Thank you Carol, that's the point I was trying to make; as a police officer, you can see where I might be a little freaked-out about those pics. The other ones are just normal sexist Carmen Miranda stuff and are funny; sort of.

Personal comments

This thread touches on diverse individual opinions. Having your say is perfectly fine. Without a doubt, harsh comments about other members are crossing our 'Be Nice' community rule. Think twice, post once....

Thank you!

This is the first time I looked at this thread. I've got the point from both sides of the fence. Personally I don't see any use in taking this argument any further. I find using the forums in this way more disagreeable than the merits or lack thereof and this is the last time for me I will read this thread.

I work with police officers almost every day, have several retired officers currently workkng for me, and have both a brother and brother in law who wear blue. And I can't imagine any of them getting "freaked-out" by these photos .... BUT

it seems to me that we are all entitled to our views, and if that is yours, and presuming it's genuine, which it seems to be, we all ought to respect that.

My personal view is that these photos are well done, and attractive. (I did think a soft box would have been useful to deal with the shadow lines on the model in the first photo.) Of course they're sexist - after all, that is the whole point, isn't it?

So - I hear your view and am not offended by it in the slightest ... why shouldn't you be entitled to your beliefs? And I hope you're not offended by mine. We just disagree. Nothing wrong with that.
