Double Airstream Double Rainbow

Last summer at Monument Valley, UT, a vintage Airstream pulled in next to us. After a brief rain shower a double rainbow appeared, so here's a Double Airstream, Double Rainbow....

Storm Coming and Going

We were on Hwy 101 in South Oregon Coast March 3rd and were caught in a high wind advisory and rain. This shot was taken at Meyers Creek Beach, 14 miles south of Gold Beach. The rain was belting us in sheets as we came down a steep grade off Cape Sebastian.
We were very glad to make our destination of Harris State Park in Brookings about a half hour later. I was going to get some pictures of that campsite but was sick of the rain that day and next morning too.

Enjoying my 6th day of retirement in a beautiful county park in Yuba City, California after 6 straight days of rain. I washed the car and trailer today.

I'm surprised that no one has brought up winter yet! We are used to the cold and snow but this winter has been ridiculous .....

I know everyone will have their own winter story - here is ours:
  • we have more snow than we've ever had in our 26 years here - and despite the calendar saying that "spring" is less than 3 weeks away - we know that winter has not finished with us yet!
  • the cold has been continuous and bitter - at the beginning of March we were still "enjoying" minus 35 C for overnight temperatures.
  • frost levels are now over 6 feet deep in the ground in snow-free areas - this has meant that our little town of 3000 has 40 + homes/businesses that do not have running water - their supply has frozen. This seems to be the same in communities all around us. Many have been advised they will likely have to wait until spring (late April/May) before their lines thaw out.
The pictures were taken across our backyard towards the shed. The first was taken at the beginning of December - the second today. They may give you some idea of the almost continuous barrage of winter storms that we've had - but what you won't see is that all our roofs, including the Bambi's, have had to be cleared of snow twice - that is unheard of - we have never had to clear them more than once.

Gotta love winter if you want to live here (and we do .....)

The wagon is not a Buick Roadmaster but it's cousin, an Oldsmobile Custom Cruiser. 5.7 L V8. Great tow vehicle for the Flying Cloud.

Ranger Jay, that is some snow! I think we in Yakima, WA have turned the corner as the last snow has melted away, with the help of some recent rains, and the sun was out today in all its glory.

Colonel, have you started a thread with your travel photos and commentary?

We got dumped on yesterday…but here comes the melt!

Awesome pics so far….thanks everybody!

Obviously, I can't enter this month, but I woke up this morning and saw the icicles on our Curtis Wright out my window. It fit my minds-eye for the category & I thought I'd share.

Keep 'em coming!

Split Rock, if that is the same critter in the picture from 3/3 and 3/5, it sure likes that particular spot, enough so to mark it

Nice to see! We flew into Christchurch and honeymooned there on the south island (NZ) 25+ years ago. Prettiest place I have ever seen.

Wow 25 years ago is a long time, when they say time flies, it literally does! NZ is still beautiful, and camping is still popular amongst locals and travelers.
