Outstanding RyeL! Any trip is a good trip. The only place we've been so far with our new 25' is about an hour from home where Sam does her fly fishing guiding. She's been so busy I drove the trailer up there so she doesn't have to commute every day.

So we started home from the 4CU Santa Fe in the Summer Rally and stopped here at the arch on Hwy 177 (which is about 23 miles south of I-40) in New Mexico for a quick lunch.

A few hours later, completely without much pre-thought, we put down a deposit for a membership and lot at the Airstreams only Ponderosa Shadows RV Park in Show Low, Arizona to have an easy and relatively nearby (130 miles) escape destination from the Phoenix summer "warmth" that would require no reservations!

Since the purchase paperwork was signed at dusk, we parked in our future space for the night and got back underway for Phoenix the next morning.

You have to ask yourself, Is the Argosy half full or half empty?

You've got to ask yourself one question. Do you feel lucky? Well, do you punk?

First Airstream

In August 2011 we purchased our first and only (so far) Airstream from its owner in New Jersey. On the pickup day the seller gave us an orientation in his driveway. We then towed it to the local Airstream dealer to have the hitch adjusted. Leaving the dealer, on our way out of town, we stopped at a fast food outlet for lunch and a chance to sit and decompress before heading for the terror of the NJ Turnpike and the trip back to NC. After nervously negotiating the parking lot and finding a place to situate the rig, the realization hit us we had finally done it. This picture captures the moment. It still amazes us Susan's hands were steady enough to take the picture.

Susan did a fine job! And I can see that big smile on your face....we got ours in Spring of 2011 and she still puts a smile on our faces!

Well winning the contest means you have to choose the topic for the next month's contest AND declare a winner. This month, the stories that came with the photos were part of the decision as well.
Here are the results:
Runners up included FAN for her photo out of the fog, and the story that brought her there and Bigskyrider8 for the beautiful photo of the Yellowstone River Campsite on their Maiden voyage and Birthday camp this past May.
And the winner is:
Arctic Fox for both his incredible photo "Out of the Clouds" and the wonderful story that got him there.

Congratulations and I look forward to your topic for next month, as well as your artist's eye in choosing the next winner!

WOW - thanks very much everyone!

I'm a little taken back as photography and the challenge has not really been on my mind of late. As our area has been under a State of Emergency for the past several days after being the lucky recipients of over 7" of rain in a 24hr period after 4" two days before that.... As a result, flooding has been a major issue for not just us but most people around us.

So with that in mind - I will try my best to get my head back into photography and a possible topic ASAP.... That said, it might be a day or two (hope no one minds) but I will try my best to come up with a topic that no one will have to jump ice-pans in the a Arctic Ocean to get the shot.....

Again thanks VERY MUCH for the complement on my story and image.

More important - Congrat's to the other winners as there was a stellar group of images....

Cheers
Doug
