Hi folks,

I think we need to wait to hear from this month's host. Whoever wins the month before has that honor . I am not sure Zep has gotten the news yet.

better late than never!
OK, the host is now awake!!!
Theme Statement for June:
"Off the Beaten Path"
or
"Boondocking"
Rules (this is not a knife fight, Butch):
1. No Pavement
2. No Hookup
3. Away from Home (I just know some of your abodes would otherwise qualify as "boondocking"!)
4. No RV park, no matter how sparse
5. Parks and Forest Service camps OK, ditto for similar improved campsites in other countries.
6. Extra points for remoteness
7. Double extra points for revealing nifty and "unknown" boondocking locations
8. Triple extra points for being remote with other Airstreams
9. Tents and campfires always add value...
Have fun and good luck!

Here's a start. Parked in "Scenic Beach", a Washington state park on the Hood Canal.
The forest slopes up steeply from the beach, but the walk through the woods to the beach is excellent. The view across the water is Olympic National Park.

This is very close to and east of the Canyonlands entrance turnoff from US highway 191. It's slow going over some of the rock ledges in the road, but a great place to boondock.
Directions: about 1/2 mile south of the Canyon Lands turnoff, there is a turnoff to the east side, going to a bar/dance hall. Instead of going towards the bar, go north paralleling the highway and then veer into the brush and rocks--there are two tracks leading to good boondocking spots.

Belated PS here--danke' to PSCHOERRN for starting the thread. That's a beautifyl machine. I'm very much thinking of getting a Pipistrel Sinus motor glider for both soaring and taking photographs of our western US and all the incredible geologic features that can only be seen from the air.
I do like the cal sign!

A snowy day in April
Colcord Ridge Campground sits on the undefined edge of the Mogollon Rim. This is a basically dispered campground on flat ground with the basics. You will need to bear-proof your camp here as the local wildlife includes black bear, elk, javelina, mountain lion and deer. From Payson travel 33 miles east on S. R. 260 to F.R. 512 and turn right then travel 3.2 miles to the campground on your left.

Camping in the meadow at Cyclone Lake in the White Mountains of Arizona. The Airstream in the phot is Brad's (flyfshr) 1959 Trade Wind. My 16 year newer Trade Wind is out of the shot. The lake is part of the White Mountain Apache Rent-a-Lake Program. This place is very nice, but not level. My setup this year was a hole about 10 inches deep for the high side and 3 inches of leveling blocks on the low side. This shot was over the recent holiday weekend.

Does no phone, no lights, no water count as boondocking?
After hurricane Wilma, no utilities for 5 days:

You get credit for good use of the Airstream! And happy to have it handy, I bet. What's it like living in an entire community of boondockers? Were you able to transfer food from the house fridge to the Airstream? This is a great reminder to keep the propane tanks reasonably full.

Only one limit! There ought to be an Airstream, Airstream part, Airstream reflection, or group of Airstreamers, or maybe even a photo of the boondocking site that an Airstream could get to. I thought this would go without saying.
Resubmit previous "losers"! Maybe they were winners, but just not in that month.

Ok, I'm in on this one.
This photo was taken during elk hunting season in Oct. of 2006. Location, (Cough . . . now whispering) . . . is near Garden Valley, Idaho.
Had a SOB move in behind me after this picture was taken. The owner was telling my wife, at about 9:00 PM that night, that he knew the location of my ATV and could go get me (he was concerned) - she had to tell him I had my elk down and was on my way out.
Poor guy: he had never harvested an elk in his 15 years of pursuit, and I had one down in lest than 2 hours . . . I had an instant fan.

Saw this trailer parked on up on the hill when camping @ Casini. Couldn't figure out how he go up there, but I'm sure there were no facilities!
