July 2018 Photo Contest - Being Crafty
Well - honored doesn't cover it! Thanks HiHoAgRV for selecting my pics of Daisy and her insatiable bedtime-is-anywhere habit for the June 2018 contest! Loved all the pics!!
July's contest is all about being crafty! What do I mean by that? Well - take for instance the coffee mugs DW made by hand for our Tin Goat with our WBCCI numbers!
Maybe you're a potter, a painter, a musician, a gourmet "cookie" on the road, maybe a woodworking or aluminum craftsman, a craft brewer/mixologist, a feng shui artist setting up your campsite or even a crafty photographer.
Share your craftiness here in pictures however YOU define your craft. Extra points awarded for more visible connections to craftiness connected to using your rig. Have at it - follow whatever the rules are (especially your own photos only) and be crafty!! Good luck!! [emoji3]

Well, I'm not sure how to enter this contest, because I spent a big chunk of my free time over the past four years doing rig-related crafts! Where to start??
I pulled together thirteen of the less-technical examples in these two collages (I have many more). This omits all the design for our off-grid lithium and solar electrical systems - I would call that technical stuff more "DIY-y" instead of "crafty".
This represents a lot of work, but hey, designing for our Airstream is a hobby that keeps me out of the bars and sleazy nightclubs.

While I can't outfit your Interstate for you and I can't make you a boat to sail away in. I can make you a greeting card to send to someone as you travel about the country.

Fused Glass Art
I do various types of artwork, stained glass, fused glass, paintings, etc. Here is a night light I create celebrating Airstream. I also create banners for camping sites based on a painting I did of our 19' Tinker. It works well with our now 28' Rosie.

Wow, that is a great photo in the first post . . . worth a thousand words, without the need to say or explain anything!
The cool calm of the water . . . how good that food would taste right now, on that very dock!
That is the fun part of this monthly photography contest in my opinion, to see photos that take one's breath away -- on their own -- with a bare minimum of cerebral stuff thrown in.
Cheers,
Peter
PS -- nice crafty mugs too!

Tying Flies?
How about my young angler tying flies in the Sport 22? I'm pretty crafty, by fly tying leaves me in awe.

Jen took some time while we visited San Angelo State Park on our way to Arizona last winter to work on some long outstanding UFOs (quilt-speak for Unfinished Objects)....

So here ya go: I was perusing Craigslist, (as one does) and saw that someone was selling a non-working vintage skil-saw of a very art-deco appearance. I thought: with a few modifications, that blade guard could look like a stylized single axle vintage Airstream trailer. A few hours of disassembly, modification, and general craftiness, and you get what you see in the attached pic...
