January 2013 Photo Contest -- Airstream "Celebrities"
Greetings All!
Welcome to the January 2013 Photo Contest -- Airstream "Celebrities"
My vision for this month's contest is to post photos of our Airstreaming friends who have become unofficial family members ("Celebrities") with a short desciption of why that person(s) is (are) important to you. The person(s) whom you select as a "celebrity" can be anyone in Airstreaming whom you admire.
As an example, I will post a couple of my photos in this realm:
The photo above is of Bill Scott. I am very fortunate to have considered Bill as one of my good friends. He was very active in the Vintage Airstream Club, and always had a smile and a good word for anyone who stopped to visit him and his 1961 Bambi. The Vintage Airstream Club named their Best Bambi award the Bill Scott Best Bambi Award, and during the International Rally VAC Concours, the Best Bambi in the judging receives the Bill Scott award. It was difficult, if not impossible, to meet Bill Scott and not become near immediate good friends.
In the photo above, Kathy Hunt is at the keyboard reviewing digital photographs taken the first few days of the 1999 Wagon Wheels Caravan to the WBCCI International Rally in Dayton, OH. Kathy was one of my best Airstreaming friends and we enjoyed a number of caravans and rallys together. She was a long-time Airstreamer who mentored many new Airstreamers including myself. She was among the first to welcome me to my first International Rally (1998 Boise, ID), and made me feel immediately welcome. Kathy exemplified the verve for life that is a part of Airstreaming as she was a retired school teacher, breast cancer survivor, and an unofficial goodwill ambassador for Airstreaming and the WBCCI. She was a widow who traveled solo and was an active member of the WBCCI Free Wheelers. It was with saddness that I learned of the sale of her beloved 1961 Bambi and not too long afterward the news of her passing.
I hope everyone enjoys this photo contest as much as I have enjoyed all of the other contests.
Kevin

My "celebrity" is my 5 yo Daughter! Most of the time it is me and her in the Airstream. We make a great "Stream Team!"
The first picture is Makay being silly... she found out that the bug guard slides!
The second picture is Us on the Duck Boats at the Stone Mountain, GA Rally last April! (...yes those are duck-bill quackers!)

Great Topic! Two Celebrities in On Photo!
In keeping with the literal interpretation of the theme, here is a rare photo of two, famous Airstream Celebrities captured in the same frame:
On the left "Lewster" that technician extraordinaire who is always there for us with sound advice.
And "Ken J" one of the founders of the Four Corners Unit and the creative genius behind the Albuquerque Balloon Fiesta Airstream Rally!

Airstream Celebrities Artie and Sue McDowell
These two have been Airstreaming since Christ was a Corporal and still inspiring younger Airstreamers to go to beautiful places and have a good time. This is a shot of Artie and Sue dancing at White Sands National Monument at the 2011 Rally. Both are Past Presidents of the NM Unit, I believe.

This "celebrity" is the incomparable Zeppelinium, Airstream restorer, woodworker, LED researcher, kayaker and all round good company. This was taken when our Airstreams shared a ferry run to Anacortes, WA.

The Resident Eccentric - Every Forum Has One, lol!
I love the inspirational tone of this month's topic.
However, I guess I will have to bow out again *sigh* as I do not have anything that meets the criteria.
As a pantheist, I often Airstream just to get away from people; I find my "celebrity" in nature's macrocosm.

Dang it vinstream, I wanted Pee Wee for my "Celebrity" (Pee Wee, his wife, my wife & I at the Balloon Fiesta, the infamous Ken J. was there also! ). So....., would Darth Vader work?. Darth Vader is my celebrity because "The Force is With Me".

Dear FaN,
Congratulations are in order as a simple search reveals that yours is the first "pantheist" reference in Forum history! I am sure that you have caused a number of dictionaries to be opened.
Happy New Year,
John S.

Oh cripes.....I made a fervent dash to the online dictionary to see if I have made an azz out of myself (again).
To cut to the chase - eliminate the poop-a-doop - pantheism merely means that God (or whatever your higher source is) and nature are one.
You love me....dontcha?......

To eliminate the what? Must be a regional expression. Care to give us the definition of that one as well?

Absolutely! I figured you knew the word (you used it correctly). I just liked the use of a not often used word - livens things up.
