Irresistible Sunset & Jet Contrails

Yesterday, 12-5-08, on my way home I was sure glad I had my camera with me. These where taken in Port Orchard, wa.
The first photo I shot while stopped on the shoulder on a freeway #16 over-pass.
I then drove south on Sydney Road about 4 miles and had a better view near the small airport.
There is a lower elevation difference from the road to the top of the hills. That is where i shot the last 2 pics. Thee is ONE MINUTE elapsed time between the 2nd & 3rd photos. Enjoy ...

Wow! I seen some other pics of lenticular clouds ( flying saucer like) hovering over Mnt. Rainier, also from yesterday. It must have been a great cloud day in Washington state yesterday.

There were some spectacular clouds last night lit by the half-moon. Some of the whispy ones, and a field of the ones that look like tiny puffs. It was gorgeous, with the stars peeking out through the holes. I wish I knew how to get a camera to take a picture that could really capture it. I stood outside with the dog watching until the moon ducked behind the hill.

The last couple of days around the Land Yacht Harbor near Olympia WA have been gorgeous for December! At day's end, the sunsets have also been spectacular (and these pictures even have Airstreams in them!)

When you're on the Front Range, sometimes the sunrise is better than the sunsets. Especially when the clouds are below you (not rare when you're at 7,300'). On cold days when the clouds creep up the valley, they coat the trees with silver...
