I'm impressed with the really interesting entries that are being posted.

6PackCharlie: I honestly didn't anticipate "ridiculously cute" being one of the criteria.

One week to go.

Adventure Awaits

Our neighbors gave us a send off party yesterday. We leave next Friday for a 1-2 year trip in the 1958 Flying Cloud. The dimensions for the contest are too big but wanted to send this for fun.

Question: I see "3 Rivet Member" and "Rivet Master", etc., under members' names. What does the rivet insignia indicate?

Technically, it relates to the number of posts one has, uhm, posted. I think 500 is Rivet Master (a.k.a. me) - which tells you it's sheerly a measure of quantity, not necessarily quality. :-)

Colonel, great looking cake. We on the forum celebrate your GREAT ADVENTURE right along with you, albeit with a little envy in our hearts. The expectation of course is that you start a thread highlighting your trip with lots of photos. I think the one of the cake might very well be a candidate for the 1st photo journaling your adventures.

The black hole of time while polishing

Here's a fun abstract "less than a square foot" detail shot..

I took this a couple of years ago while polishing around the stovetop vent on the side of our then '64 GT because I liked the reflection of the fall leaves being sucked into the black hole of time. The hole was about 3"x4"...

Now that is neat!

Tell us a bit more - how long did it take to put this together?

Thanks,

Jay

[QUOTE=RangerJay;1420818]Now that is neat!

Thanks,

My uncle and dad built this sixty years ago. It has been idle for about thirty years after they passed. It was too big to move and plans to tear down when the house sold. I was told it couldn't be done so I had to prove I could. I cut it in parts, reassembled and have spent about six months bringing it back to life. If you noticed I converted it to Thomas the Train and my four young Grandkids love it like I did when I was five or six. My sixteen month referbing of my 1976 was just about as difficult and time consumming project.

Feb. Photo Finalists

Thank you all for playing this month with the February Photo Contest, there were some incredible entries ranging from ridiculously cute to deeply thought provoking. The unique nature of this contest is that it usually has only one judge, this month it's me. That means I get to pick a winner that matches my particular biases and aesthetic preferences. I doesn't mean that if you are not the winner that your photo must lack something or is in some way less important. One of my biases is "less is more", meaning I like clean, uncluttered, simply framed pictures that are almost zen-like in that they have enough room for your imagination to play within them.

Here are the five finalists: InsideOut, az-streamer, nilesrob, Hittenstiehl, RangerJay
