February 2010 Photo Contest

I'm pleased and honored to have won the January contest. In doing so I'm given the responsibility of choosing a theme for this month's contest. I looked back through a number of past contests, and found that more than a few of the themes I'd considered had already been used.

So I've taken on the assistance of singer/songwriter Tom Waits, and a verse from his song "Lucky Day."

"Now when I was a boy
My daddy sat me on his knee
And he told me -
He told me many things.
And he said Son -
There's a lot of things in this world
You're gonna have no use for.
And when you get blue,
And you've lost all your dreams,
There's nothin' like a campfire
And a can of beans."

Tom and I are proposing that the theme for this month's contest be:
A campfire and a can of beans.

Subcategories include:
1. Campfires. Photos of campfires, propane fires, trailers afire - any sort of conflagration in camp is welcome.
2. Can of beans. VanCamp's, seven-course dinner extravaganzas, Smores, tables set for dinner, favorite trailer dishware - any sort of campground food activity or event.
3. Campfires and a can of beans.

Photos need not include Airstreams. I'd like to focus on the camping experience.

February is a short month, and I have to make the contest one day shorter. I need to be out of town March 1, so I'd like to close the contest at 12 midnight EST (9 PM PST) on February 27.

I'm guessing that most Airstream owners have been around a campfire or two, and have had more than a few memorable trailer meals. I invite you to share some photo memories here in February.

Thank you!

Mark

I've seen more campfires in the 12 months since we purchased our Airstream, then I had seen my entire life.
I love campfires!
Gotta work on the beans. ( ;

Our Airstream won't be camping until we get new axles and seal some leaks and fix the floor and fix the window and...

Meanwhile, this was taken on the beach by Monterey Bay, California. I use it as a desktop background on cold winter days. Just looking at it makes me feel warmer.

Ricky, that is a great shot of your 345. But isn't the camp fire on the wrong side? Was that your choice or the campgrounds?

Beautiful shot either way.

Minne, That's where the designers put it. The site was a pull through on left side of the road. Maybe I was driving the wrong way on the loop? didn't matter though, we were 1 of 4 people there & had choices a plenty.
