f/8 and be there!
It's been pretty quiet on this thread. There are ten days left until the contest closes, and we have room for more photos.

Here are some good ones from the Southern Illinois Unit rally at St. Louis Regional Airport last August. The first one won last August so you can disregard it for the contest.

These were taken at The Wilds Rally last September in Ohio. Best rally I've attended to date.

This is our Airstream
We bought this 1969 Airstream so that Duke, on the couch and Duchess, on the floor could travel with us. They felt right at home.

Boondocking in the Tenn. Mtns.
This is our campsite for our annual Trout Fishing weekend. By day, we are all fishing for the Largest Trout, come night....some mighty tall tales being told about the one that got away.....and other ramblings, food, drink, and warmth.

That waiting for Smores shot - way cool! Captured the moment, tired after a long day of camping...and putting up with adults ! But smores make it all better! ; )

Fire & Food
>>>Tom and I are proposing that the theme for this month's contest be:
A campfire and a can of beans.<<<
Hey Mark,
Love your theme for this month's photo contest! A fine imagination and Tommy W. would be proud!
First we threw the can of beans into the fire but they immediately exploded.
We then had a hard time getting the smores to that fine light-brown color with that very slight crispness until we thought of using the fly rod with a treble hook and stainless steel line. It only took one high, gentle cast past the peak to get it just right.
Keep on cookin'!

Closing the February contest
Thanks to all who submitted photos, and to all the rest who enjoyed them this month. Here's my take on the best of the bunch.
In the "campfire" category, I particularly liked the magnitude of the entry (post #32) by DJ Bassett. But did this actually occur in a campground? And kudos to ItsIt (#12) and Doorgunner (#13) for capturing two common responses to campfires, hedonism and nodding off peacefully.
In the "can of beans" category, I liked the photo by Wheel Interested (#7) integrating food and aluminum. But hands down I have to give the nod to Steelgood (#16) for the genuine can of beans photo.
The photo I liked best, and the one I'll pick as overall contest winner, is in the category comprising "campfire AND a can of beans." And the winner is . . . . Airdrum (#29) and her photo of niece Skye. An excellent photo!
Thanks again -
Mark

Campfire and a 'can of beans'
Wow, thanks for choosing my photo Mark. It's such an honor with all those great pics to select from.
I'm already thinking about the subject for the March photo contest....hmmmm...wheels spinning....stay tuned for the March 2010 Photo Contest thread coming soon!
Happy Silver Trails,
