December photo contest - Ho Ho Ho

I am honored to have won the November photo contest with my first-ever-submission of a picture of my favorite Junior Rangers. It doesn't get any better than spending time with friends and family doing what you love and passing the torch to the next generation. I enjoyed all of last month's submissions.

This month: Santa likes a good laugh and so do I. The winner will be the one who makes me laugh the most with their photo. (Since none of you know me, this should be quite the challenge.) If your photo is worth a thousand words, and needs no further explanation, then no explanation is needed. If a caption, or the story behind the photo, will add to the humor, please include it. It can be a photo/situation that was not funny at the time, but now that you look back, you can see the humor.

Just a reminder that some part of the Airstream must be included and you must own the rights to any photograph submitted. Usually this will mean that you took the photo entered in the contest. At the time you enter a photo it's only fair to the other entrants to say if you didn't take the picture but that you own the rights.

The best example I have is Fly at Night’s Santa SPLAT posted in the December 2013 contest. I can’t post it because I don’t have the rights, but you can easily find it. This one happens to be holiday related, but for the purposes of this month’s contest, the photo does not have to be connected to the holidays or the season.

Have fun. I'm looking forward to some laugh-out-loud funny photos!

Kathy

Here's one that makes me laugh..."the boys" after a day of polishing!

And you ask, "Where's the Airstream?" it's in the oxidation remnants all over them!

This selfie doesn't quite meet the rules but this is as good an excuse as any. This is what I feel like after Boondy's.

Thanks Kathy for a new contest with a great theme! Unfortunately, so far this month only one post contains a photo which follows the rules. [#6 by InsideOut -- and yes I did laugh out loud!]

There are plenty of opportunities in this forum for humor, but I have always found this monthly photography contest great fun when it contains mainly original photos by the posters, which all follow a shared theme.

For the posters who want to yuck it up, there are plenty of other opportunities, including the option of starting one's own thread.

Any chance of this December photography contest playing by the rules, and ratcheting back the free-for-all humor, in favor of a self-restrained narrower path to laughter, mirth and joy? This may require a bit of work, and not just a copy-and-paste from the Internet, but the end result is worth it IMO.

Thanks,

Peter

PS -- The Fun and Games sub-forum has lots of threads where humor is encouraged:

http://www.airforums.com/forums/f472/

Al Boondy's Airstream Hacked thread is a good example:

http://www.airforums.com/forums/f472...ls-158395.html

That long Airstream 5th-wheel looks pretty cool actually!

Then there is always The Argue Thread:

Once again I suggest that you educate yourself before accusing members of breaking the rules.

From the SITE TEAM:

Clearly it is NOT against the rules to submit a picture that you did not take, and it is up to the contest author to set the rules for their contest, NOT YOU.
They earned it.

Did you read the OP'S post?

The entire purpose of this contest is to yuck it up!

This is twice that you have falsely accused me of breaking the law or the forum rules in a thread. I wonder if the moderaters will find that YOUR posts break the rules???

14 post and the expected Airforums bickering and in fighting has already started. I need to go camping and apparently I am not the only one.

Time to get back to the basics
https://www.google.com/url?sa=t&rct=...xlUjchAC-VsgoQ

There is a simple answer here. Nobody is running for president, this is not the Nobel Prize. The prime directive is have FUN. Nobody is gong to like every photo, especially me. The only "rule" that is clear is the last month's winner decides the winner on his/ her own discretion.

Aside from the winner's "rules", the only reason I can see for the "own the rights" to a photo is the teeny tiny chance someone else who does "own the rights" gets his/her elbows chafed and calls the photo police.

Rules Clarification

Well, this contentiousness was not what I was hoping for, so let me clarify. The photo that will win, if that is what you would like to do, is a photo, (not a graphic) that you took, that has not been edited (other than removing red eye, cropping, etc), that is funny. The example I gave was exactly what I am looking for. (Santa SPLAT - Dec 2013). I think we have driven off into the ditch; let's see if we can get back on course. I know it isn't easy, but you can do it!

Thanks Mellinkat for the clarification. Rest assured that I have no desire to win the contest. I'd have to start the next one and feel obligated to monitor it. I'd have to deal with the self appointed thread police as well as clowns like me.
No thanks, just in it for the laughs.
Sorry for any inconvenience and thank you for trying to bring some humor to the site!

I'll drink to that.

The photo I submitted above does not have any part of an Airstream in it. I did not even expect it to be judged as meeting requirements. It was posted more as a comment than a contest entry.

Melinski, It will never cease to amaze me what people choose to argue about. Myself, not excluded. I think it must be a collorary of Murphy's Law what you put out there with the good intention that it could not possibly provoke any contention will have inversely proportional results..

Are we having fun yet?

Uhm - here's one that makes me laugh. I took the pic. It's inside my trailer. I'm always tickled at how dedicated she is to sleeping. She's my hero for that reason alone, among many others....
