December 2017 Photo contest

Hanukah, Virgin of Guadelupe Day, Christmas, Kwanza and New Year's Eve not to mention the Festivus celebration of the glory of bare aluminum all fall in December. What you may ask is the common thread? You might or might not say renewal, which happens to be the theme of the last photographic contest of 2017. I'll start it off with a Spanish Colonial adobe church on the high road to Taos undergoing renewal. In honor of Frank Costanza you must have aluminum showing, but tinsel is not allowed.

Renewal of the day, the family, the NP experience

This was taken at the Mesa Verde Campground - Morefield. It was the renewal of the day, the renewal of a wild life generation, the renewal of family relationships, and the renewal of our knowledge about how people lived. Pat

The subtle "one way" sign adds a layer of laconic insight that that each individual has his/her one way to renewal.

Well, if renewal is the topic, how about this...a few weeks ago our 1971 Sovereign parked in the RV park of a large hospital where I had multiple cardiac stents placed to renew the blood flow to my heart. Four and a half hours in the cardiac cath lab to renew my chance for a longer life. By the way, it was a really nice RV park. Lol

Stopover enroute

Staying adjacent to the airport and restaurant at Harris Ranch, along I-5 in the middle of California, halfway between LA and the Bay Area. This was sunrise...

OK, we Interstate drivers are latecomers to the party, but we promise to not stand on the bar with lampshades on our head. If any of you aluminum guys want to stand on the bar, however, any one of us will be happy to give you a boost.

Here's one from Newfoundland.

Only Dec 2 and 17 posts, and December has 31 days. Wowsa!

You guys really gotta click on riowerks photo to really appreciate the stars!

How often at night while the heavens are bright
With the light of the glittering stars.
Have I stood there amazed
And asked as I gazed
Does their glory exceed that of ours?

Brownie points to whomever can name that tune!
