I have the very real (and unexpected) pleasure of being able to determine the theme for December's photo contest.
It is the last month of the year and 2010 is winding down – by the time the New Year has rung in and the winner for December's contest is announced our thoughts will be anticipating the Trips of 2011 (at least after the hangover they will ...)
So.
I borrowed a phrase from Wally Byam to help give our planning for 2011 a bit of a boost:
"... see if you can find out what's over the next hill, and the next one after that."
Then .....
In a spirit of Airstreaming adventure and exploration the theme for December will be:
"Over the next Hill .... and the Hill after that...."
Hope you like it!
I've attached a couple of pictures of ours that I thought might fit – but take the theme wherever your imagination travels! - the only rule - of course - is a bit of Airstream!
Thanks!
(and wishing you and yours a very Merry Christmas and Happy New Year!)
Good Luck!
Jay

From the Glacier Parkway in Canadian Rockies National Park in Canada, just south of Jasper... Lots of "hills" and spectacular roads running between and around them...

In Theory, there's no difference between Theory and Practice, but in Practice, there is usually a difference...
Oregon’s Painted Hills are on the little strip of highway just northwest of Mitchell (about 75 miles east of Bend) that leads up to one of the John Day Fossil Beds.
Hmmmm .... some great pictures so far ...... but a definite lull in the submissions over the last couple of days ..... everyones out Christmas shopping???? ......

This is as a photo from our "tin tent trip" last fall to Great Basin National Park, and the 3,000+ year old Bristlecone Pines. The Great Basin is an endless series of mountains and valleys, always one hill beyond.
The interior is gutted, we slept on camping pads on the plywood floor, front window needs new glass, but it was a fun trip, great fall colors.
