We got these shots just as we were parking in Cape Hatteras last week.

Thanks Tim....those were taken at Young State park in Boyne Michigan just south of Petoskey, NW side of the state. We have been looking at those for 32 years now.

Anyone know where these were taken? (all true Canadians should know this ..... )
On our Alaskan trip a couple of years ago our route from Ontario allowed us to stop in to this site on our way home - and although northern BC, the Yukon and Alaska were pretty tough acts to follow this was also a great highlight of the trip (at least for me - I think I caught my wife rolling her eyes ....)
Thanks,
Jay

Holy smoke Tim - you gave up too quickly .....
A couple more shots below.
These locations are the sites used to film "Corner Gas" - a popular Canadian sitcom that ran for 6 years. The actual location of "Dog River, Saskatchewan" is "Rouleau, Saskatchewan" about an hours drive south of Regina - the town pretty much gave up its real identity to become host to shooting of the show. All these sites and a number of others are well known to those who were (and still are) fans of the show. It was a sad day for a lot of Canadians when the show stopped its run.
Corner Gas T-shirts, a baseball hat and DVD set of all 6 seasons can be found in our Bambi.
A lot more information can be found at:
Corner Gas Online :: Home

RangerJay - Thanks for the location and info on the tv show. I've never seen the show so would not have had a clue to the location. It must have been a popular show.

Ranger Jay, one finds the hidden gems when he takes the road less travelled, and that highway provides access to views that the earliest settlers must have marvelled at. Think about it, grass to the horizon in all directions and not a stone to pick. Oh, happy days, sunrise to sunset on the beautiful prairie and all you had to do to be successful was work hard. I drove on it this summer heading to Alberta just to remind myself how lucky we are to have access to these quiet places while enjoying comforts that would have been un fathomable to those who broke the land. I went by your area last week. Equally impressive for its beauty where a pick and shovel or a saw provided the income in lieu of a plough. Also very quiet now. Jim

You sound like a kindred spirit - we work hard at planning to be at our destination when others aren't ...... and to imagine the lives of those who have long since gone.

Long Point Provincial Park on Lake Erie. One of my favourite campgrounds anywhere. We got a beautiful site two minutes from the beach for our maiden voyage with the new/old International.
We were the only Airstream in the park, got a fair bit of attention as a result.

Lakefront camping at Beaver Brook Campground in N Monmouth, ME
Nice little spot, pretty private and with our own little beach. I brought my kayak as was able to go for a nice paddle each evening.
