August 2018 Photo Contest: Beat the Heat

Many thanks for my selection as winner of the July Photo contest!

As I suffer in the oppressive heat of this summer, I recall some Cowboy Mouth lyrics: "The Texas sun beats down upon me like the devil's smile--I'd rather be anywhere else than here..."

So I'm making the theme this month "beat the heat." Post pics of your trailer parked next a snow man, sitting on a ferry passing an iceberg at sea, or maybe just yourself enjoying a beverage in the shade of your awning and thinking cool thoughts. Extra points for creativity, and especially the visual represenation of "heat-beating coolness."

Just to get things started, here is a picture of me trying to avoid the sun beating down upon me like the devil's smile while working on my new subfloor using a repurposed patio umbrella...

Cool

Beat the heat with winter aluminum tent camping!

Although this may be stretching the theme a bit . . .

Should the air temp in the photo be on the hot side?

Great Sand Dunes Natl. Park

As opposed to some pictures of AS's sitting in a winter storage setting, I was camping in Great Sand Dunes Natl. Park and awoke to an unexpected snow storm in May. Very refreshing!

Woke to one of those rare snow storms on the Gulf of Mexico in 2017 I know it does not look like much but for South Mississippi it’s a small blizzard Click image for larger version

We carried our 2 youngest children to see their oldest sister in Iowa for Spring Break 2015. Weather was forecasted to be in low 60`s for highs and mid 40`s for lows. The kids would have rather been at the beach.Click image for larger version

Looks like some good, if snowy, entries so far, keep ‘em coming! I’m beating the heat in real time—left Houston a few days back and made it to South Dakota for what was almost a record lowClick image for larger version

Cold lemonade and a "gentleman caller."

Looks like it is still hot in most of the states—just a couple days left to see some visual representation of beating the heat!!

It was 90+ inland but nothing beats the cool mornings of the Northern California coast in the summer.
Sometimes you just gotta move it on down the road.Click image for larger version

Belegedhel, great photo choice.

M Rafferty is up in the NC mountains in and out of cell service and trying to figure it out on an IPhone. I reached him by PM and he will try to get a new thread for September started soon.
