August 2016 Photo Contest: What a Great Country
Thanks for liking the Keewaunau sunset! Just got the Airstream back in the garage and found the email reminding me I am supposed to pick the new theme. Very sorry about the delay.
As always talking to people from all over the country was fantastic this past trip. What struck me was how excited folks get talking about what they have seen in their travels in our great country. Much optimism and pride. So different than the battles in the daily news.
Show us your favorite. This image just an example ... need to see the AS.

Hmmm--I have some pretty spectacular pics I've taken while backpacking--is it acceptable to photoshop my trailer onto the summit of Half Dome?

You can do anything you want including photoshop. At the moment there are NO entries and I don't want to be the one who killed the monthly photo contest.

Canada a wonderful country with spectacular people and scenery based on my travel experiences. So are Italy, Japan, France, Paraguay which I have visited although not in an AS.
If you submit a picture that wins you can do a wonderful Canada contest. I have some images I would be happy to submit.

"What a great country" was a direct quote from one of many conversations I had during my trip last week. It seemed like a good idea at the time but the last thing I wanted to do was offend anyone and apologize to those who might have felt left out. So, I am changing the directions.
The new criteria are any images with the sun and an AS. Sunrise, Sunset, Shadow, Reflection, different planet. It doesn't matter as long as the AS and something to do with the sun is in the picture. If this is a repeat, I don't care. Just submit images.

Trakker - I would have imagined anyone from any country (i.e., any participant from anywhere in the forums) could have submitted something from any country ... Hopefully no one was actually offended....
And - I love how concerned you are about killing the topic. No one's gonna let you down here! 😀
Alright - here's a sun-related entry. I've used it before. This is taken as the sun is sinking in the west behind our AS while we're facing east camping on the coast of southern Maine...

And (not to go all Fiddler on the Roof) but a sunset has to be followed by a sunrise...same camping spot, just from inside the trailer in the morning....
