Arches National Park at Night
Just thought I would share a few photos from one of my favorite places, Arches National Park.
Most of us see it in the daylight, but here are a few views from a current project I am working on: "Arches at Night".
I hope you enjoy the photos, and I hope it inspires you to roll some wheels and go someplace!

How did you get that lighting effect at night? Looks like you had a giant spot light. Amazing photos.

Lighting on the light painted photos by a 15 million candlepower spotlight on a 30 second exposure.
Details of how it was done are recorded on the narrative of some if the shots which can be seen by clicking each individual photo.
Thanks so much for all the kind words about the photos!
You made my day!

You are all so kind and warm with your comments. Thank you.
There is narrative and explanations with many of the individual photos on my flickr site (https://www.flickr.com/photos/dsphotoscapes/) which let you know what the settings and techniques were to get the initial photo.
There are undisclosed editing techniques used in Photoshop and Lightroom that are a little more involved for color correction and lighting balance, etc. that have come with a lot of trial and error and experience since 2006 when I first ventured into more serious photography as SANITY from the Life Insurance and Investments business.
I have never taken a class, or course...I guess you could say that's just being geeky enough to read the manuals and run with it but it has turned out well so far! Several National Parks and people from all over the country have some of my works in their homes and offices, and that just makes me smile! (Of course the cash is nice too. :-D )
Feel free to ask questions...I will try to give you a straight up answer.
Thanks again for the comments!

I do participate in art shows where I get to see the buyer, and I do get emails and process orders from time to time.
It's always fun to see other people enjoy them as much as I do. The biggest decision is usually what size is needed for the space, and then next is do you want it traditional, or on canvas, or heat fused on aluminum?.....
Yup, I sell them heat fused on aluminum.

This one is False Kiva on Aluminum 18" x 36" hangs in my CPA's office.

I went back and took another look on your Flicker account from my desktop versus my phone so 2 of those viewers are me. ;o)
Your photo's will inspire us all to continue taking photo's and visit so many places, new and again. As we live in Arizona many of the photo's themes are familiar to us but yours have such nice color and framing.
I tell myself that I am absolutely going to get a better quality camera some day. Currently shooting with a Canon Power Shot hand held and a phone ;o) but having fun anyway. Have my eye on a Fuju X100 but it does not zoom and it's very expensive. Lots of other good models out there but so many buttons and I would likely never use them.
It's much more than having good equipment. It is learning what your equipment can do and how to use it to its full potential.
Thanks for sharing.

Nicely done!! It is interesting; even in your clear sky shots the stars are a little blurry from the earth's movement, what with a 30 (or whatever) second shutter opening. Great photos! Now if only you could have gotten your Airstream into the scene...
