my new to me 1959 Flying Cloud

purchased a few months ago - was titled as 1958 but after forum info turns out it is a may of 1959 serial#. international model built in california.

bonus since this is the year i was born - totally gutted with new marine plywood floors - beginning to restore and will post photos as progress ensues.

The title thing seems to happen. My 64 Trade Wind was titled in late 63 but seems to be a 64 model. Looks great. Have fun!

Hello. I am looking at a1959 flying cloud. It has good skin...but it is empty inside. What value would your put on something like that? Any input would be appreciated.

Quick question the battery box as seen in the photo above . Does anyone know if that is model specific, after market or factory option?

Thanks!

That was the standard battery box for that era. I am guessing they changed to inboard 63/64?

My 62' is similar but built out to accept a wider battery.

Hey Groovy, nice FC! I see it has the highly coveted International badge. More photos please.

sold my 59 22' flying cloud

all,

well i sold my 1959 22' flying cloud about 3 months ago - i found a 1959 24' trade wind that is in really nice condition and all original inside - belonged to the original owner and now that he is 89 ys old, it was time for him to sell - he used it as a man cave and below are some black and white photos i took of the owner prior to my purchase and driving it home. we drove up to the campsite he kept it at for 35 years! used as his mancave!!

i'll be doing a slight restoration of the cabinet and floor surfaces - also removed the propane furnace which is mounted too close to the entry way - i'll be installing a smaller more efficient olympic propane heater.

regards from seattle!

Also new to me Fifty Niner!

I'm pretty excited about my new rig! I recently sold my 77 Safari and regretted it. So I went on a quest for a new rig and found this great 59 Flying Cloud. I'll be frequenting this thread as well as other '59 threads for all the help everyone on this forum can provide. I hope to post photos as I progress.....Robert

Here is another angle. I seem to be having problems uploading more than one picture at a time. I'll post more soon.

I got my Nuvite F9 today and will start the first cut this Memorial Day weekend! This rear shot shows two spots I've done just to see the possibilities!

New to me '59 FC

Thanks to posts here on this forum, I feel a little more confident in tackling my trailer's restoration at least partially on my own! Here's a photo of my first few hours of F9 polishing.

Maiden Trip

We finally made our maiden trip with our "New to Me" '59 Flying Cloud! We had a blast over Fathers Day weekend. We even coaxed our Texas Aggie son to join us. Our trailer now named "Sully" pulled well and performed well while camping. The exterior first cut polish was not complete but camping cannot wait! It is certain that we"ll be enjoying many more trips in our future.
