I looked at that on e-bay and it looks like the exterior skin is sanded. It would be a hugh job to fix, if it is indeed sanded.

Humm another brillo pad restoration - why didn't we cover that at the restoration rally?

What a shame......

A wire wheel and a side angle grinder will do that pattern in little time. Embrace this look if you buy this airstream.

What a rare find - 52 AS but it broke my heart to see the shell brillo-pad and not polished. I guess I'm a traditional gal. To the new owner, you must like that look before buying it. To each their own and I guess that's why I love AS - there is aways a new style to behold.

I did like the look of the flamed diamond plate wheel wells. Just not on an Airstream. I'm polishing now and the swirls on this trailer made a little queasy. It is clear the owner has put a ton of work in on this one. Just not my style.

I saw it down on Alki Saturday. They really did a number on the skin of that trailer. Not my look, but somebody must like it.

Okay, no posts on this thread in over two months, and no posts on your blog in about a month. The last I saw, you had just finished polishing, but now the cat is out of the bag that something much more monumental has occurred.

So, come on.

Let's see it!

We're using it!

Hey all! It has been a few VERY busy months for us, with many late nights and more than enough all nighters, but we're using the trailer! Woot! We've got some things to finish up, the main one's being to finish trimming out the shower so that we can use it inside (we took the wand through the window to rinse off sandy kids during out maiden trip to the beach ), build drawers and top trim for the dinette, sew the back cushions (bottoms are done), add lower shelves in the wardrobes for toys, shoes, etc., and cover the black and grey tanks where they are below the belly skin. But all systems are in and working, and it's just darn gorgeous inside and out. So glad.

I'm sure Ryan will want to give you some of the underbelly shots etc, but here are some that at least show how much fun we're having.

Katie

Nice work

If you haven't already seen R&K's latest blog update, take a look. They did some awesome work. I stopped by and snapped these photos after their first trip.

Wow! Looking great! Thanks for sharing the photos and the update!

Our '54 FC is sitting home, still awaiting work, as we head out on a 2 month journey in the SOB....and we wonder why work is not progressing on Pearl. Maybe the Airstream Fairies will stop by while we're out of town!
