Love it! When we saw the original Basecamp at our local dealer back in 2008, it was lacking -- we really needed a furnace. It wasn't a step up from our boler trailer, just shinier. Then, we saw the 23D in the showroom and bought it. Now, this Basecamp speaks to me! It has the features we wanted originally. Can't wait to see one in person.

How cool! I looked at basecamps when they first came out, was a little too barebones for me back then. if this was the spec I would probably have got one!

Inquiries

I don't remember who was speculating on who the audience for the Basecamp is but they got it right. Active outdoor enthusiasts, probably no kids but maybe (kids like to sleep in tents :-)), want an upgrade from tent camping. I can't speak for all dealerships, but we are getting an amazing amount of inquiries...

I can imagine this thing will sell like hot-cakes. A full featured camper in an off-road (or unimproved road) form factor that can be towed behind most smaller suv's should be a huge hit. If my kids were a little older I'd be looking at it...

The softroader 4 door Jeep owners will be all over this thing.

I like what I see. Not sure how it compares price-wise with other trailers in its size and category. But it is good-looking for sure!

Received an email from Desert Autoplex. They have the new Basecamp in stock.

$40 large? That's a lot of money for this!

We like it, hip, cool, sleek, modern with a slight retro style.

The first version was a little lacking in amenities for us also. This seems to have the needed upgrades for a quick getaway. Easy to tow, easy to store.

Very nicely done hope it sells well.

Maybe nest was purchased in order to not compete with this. Maybe the best features of both will be the final result of the BaseNest.

Does anyone know when the new Base Camp will be available for purchase at the dealers?

Most Airstream dealers that have chosen to become Basecamp dealers should be receiving new Basecamps very soon. These dealers will have a "demo" unit to display for customers to view. More inventory should be following very soon afterwards.

Just because an Airstream dealer has a Basecamp in stock doesn't necessarily mean that particular unit is for immediate sale to the public.

(not that there is anything wrong with tent camping, both tent camping and RVs have their +/-'s)

I think it fills a gap in the product line - hope it sells well, I like the concept!
This Base Camp is a whole lot closer to a Sport 16 than it is to a tent. A step-up (and it's a big step-up) from tent camping is a pop-up...and many of those can be bought new for $8-12K.

I think this trailer will cannibalize sales from both the Sport 16 and the Nest (if it ever comes to market).

I agree, it likely will be a big seller.

It's like the Tiny House movement. People are finally realizing they don't need 35', two bedrooms and slides.

Bob662: funny you would say "This Base Camp is a whole lot closer to a Sport 16 than it is to a tent." We often refer to our first-gen Basecamp as an aluminum tent.

This new one is a small, cool travel trailer with the amenities that many demand. We love ours for what it is, and we think they get an A+ for this one, too.

Rick, have they given you any word when you can expect your first?

Sanders RV in Florida says their demo Basecamp unit is due in mid-October, and that purchased units will be delivered 8-10 weeks from then. Joe

Desert Autoplex in Mesa says they will have a total initial allocation of nine units not including the "Demo". Knowing this dealer, these initial units will have every option and sell at least at list price if not at a premium (known by slang as additional dealer profit).

Not sure on the exact date, but our demo (which will also be our first) should be here next week.
