Wondering if the demo models have arrived at any of the dealers yet?

No new videos on Colonial's YouTube site yet -- probably after the Hershey show next week?

Their FB video on the Basecamp works now from this page:

https://www.facebook.com/Colonial.Airstream/?fref=nf

but the sound is inconsistent here FWIW. [down the page a bit]

Thanks,

Peter

There is a little mystery to me on the difference between the river and red rock interior. The dealer said the main difference is the red bar on the cargo and a red stitching in the same color seat cushion as the river rock. (Shown that way on the decor page) But the brochure shows the red bar but a completely different cushion on all the rest of the pics. So not really sure?

9/16/16 YouTube video: "Airstream trailers including the new 2017 Basecamp at the 2016 Hershey RV show", first two minutes or so features a walk through of the new Basecamp, starting with a street-side view.

Thanks for the video link. At time stamp 0:50 the sewer dump is visible briefly, right in front of the street side tire, and fairly low to the ground IMO. Hopefully the dealers here will provide detailed photos and measurements of the ground clearance.

Edit -- Bingo -- Colonial's walk-through video is now posted. The sewer dump comes at time stamp 20:14. Its location right in front of the street side tire is about the best possible location to avoid rocks and curbs sticking up IMO, as the tire would hopefully encounter the obstruction in time to raise the trailer before the sewer dump got hit. TBD for sure.

Airstream packed a lot of features into this new Basecamp, and it will be popular for all the reasons discussed here IMO -- its "tow-ability" by smaller tow vehicles being chief among them.

Thankso for posting both videos. I'm disappointed that the wet bath doesn't have at least a small corner sink, the area above the wheel well would've been perfect. Now you need to come out of the bathroom and move out of the way enough to close the door to use the galley sink to wash your hands (and brush teeth)

He says make sure the drain plug is in for travel, as there isn't a trap, keep it in all the time or that black tank will off gas into the trailer ALL the time without positive air flow.

One nice thing is that, with the bathroom exhaust on, you can open the pass thru (someone design a screen cover quick, to sell) and have nice airflow in the bath

Sewer dump valve. I wonder if this wasn't designed like a euro system with a cassette toilet until they realized the Americans wouldn't go for it. Cassettes are used in truck campers very efficiently.

I can't imagine sleeping inside on a hot night boondocking for instance.

Our FC20 has good cross-ventilation with the many windows which open wide, hinged on top. The small sliding windows in many Sport models lack the same free air ventilation.

Thanks,

Peter

The original Basecamp (which we are in now on our way to Olympic NP) has operable side windows with screens and we made a screen for the rear doors which completely open the rear. With a roof vent and a Maxxfan there is plenty of ventilation.

Have not seen the new one yet and have also wondered about the Windows.

The Colonial walk though video confirms that the new Basecamp side windows are screened and tilt out for ventilation. Also, the side door has a screen that pulls across from the side, and the rear door has bug netting that drops down. Joe
